Hello , I am new to the forum . My wife and I are holidaying in Roquetas in mid October and are also looking at the possibilities of moving to area in due course, initially renting a property for a year just so we can be certain that it is what we want to do . I have looked on a website called Idealista which seems to be very helpful , however , we would really like to hear from someone who has moved over to the area and could perhaps give us an insight of things to watch out for and any advice as to the best way to move things forward .

Kind regards

Hi Terry. We (me, hubby +dog) moved here to RdM in May this year having enjoyed many holidays here in the past. I'm afraid I found sites like Idealista, Fotocasa etc, pretty useless as they just didn't reply to messages etc.but you may have better luck. We came over in March this year, and basically looked up as many local estate agents as we could, firstly on the web, then directly if they had anything that looked vaguely promising for long-term rental. However, in late March the pickings were pretty slim, as we were being told that a lot of properties were being held back for the much more lucrative summer holiday rentals. I'd say when you look is almost as important as where and how. Anyway, 5 days into a weeks holiday, we'd drawn a blank after seeing 2 or 3 properties that were all unsuitable for one reason or another. In desperation, we tried a couple of Almería Facebook groups and several more possibilities emerged. We're now happily settled in a lovely apartment in the Urbanisation that came from contacting the Facebook groups - an agent with an available property saw our message and got in touch. I think there are properties out there for long-term rental, but they can be quite difficult to find.

Best of luck with your search - we'd been planning our move for a couple  of years and delighted to be living here at last!

Kind regards

Thanks for the information, we intend to look around when we come out in October and will be contacting local estate agents . Are there any specific Facebook sites you can recommend? Once again many thanks for the insight . Regards Terry
