Hello,

Trying to find out as much as possible about life in Roquetas. I am thinking of retiring there with my partner who is more enthusiastic than I am! I have a family here in London and I am English. By the time we might come to Spain I will be the early seventies, is this too late? My partner, who is a few years younger,  is rather nomadic and is Russian he loves the sun!

I feel I am stepping into the unknown and any info would be much appreciated.

Thank you

Moomdew

I don't know Roquetas well yet but come out on holiday and spend the whole time looking round all the areas you are considering, and maybe some you are not currently thinking about, and see what connects with you as different people like different areas. You can't always get a feel for an area via the internet. You might then see something or somewhere you really like and end up more enthusiastic about the move.

Hi, Moondew, I came here the first time in 1985 and fell in love with it. When I finished working we came here to the apartment we bought when we were here the first time  and sold that after 10 years, so you do not pay tax on the sale. We bought a 2year old apartment and I now live here on my own. My spanish is not very good, but I get by and there is a very good Spanish conversation website at [email protected] and he was selling a good amount of info which can help considerately at $47 which is half price. You can pay in any currency and it should help you to learn Spanish very quickly. I wish I had it when I first came here to live.

Rob20B GAVE VERY GOOD ADVICE AS TO WHERE TO LIVE.

The Urbanisation of Roquetas has a good  choice of hotels and rentals to choose from, so that might be a good place to start. I am 74 and come from Southampton and would say you are never too old, so go for it. I wish you good luck in your adventure. Mauree73

Like Maureen, I'm also using the SynergySpanish course, it's the best I've found and gets you going quickly

Like minds Rob as they say.

Just the general slowness of important things that have to be done, makes for frustration sometimes.

But you get there in the end.
