Hi Bruno we are a retired Irish couple and also looking into moving to this area. We're currently doing the rounds of estate agents to find a long term let. Prices seem reasonable compared to Ireland which has a housing crisis at the moment. Best of luck with your move!

You are the first Irish person that I have noticed on the forum, I thought I was the only one! 

Myself and hubby are in Arboleas over a year and a half now and absolutely love the life we're living. Our place is a rental, it's beautiful and very reasonable rent. 

I hope you both find what you need, do as much research as you can is the advice i would give you. Contact as many estate agents as you can, rent for 6months initially, visit the area in all seasons. We were very lucky finding the villa we are in, initially as we're in an old country house we thought we would like, turns out not for us.

I have been looking online for a place to rent as well as properties to buy. I will be most likely renting in the Salinas area close to the British school my kids are attending. I may fly over there next week to look.

Looking at the bank foreclosed properties that are offered in RDM close to the beach area. Has anyone gone through these avenues purchasing properties?

When we were looking for a small apartment to buy about 3 years ago in Roquetas, we went to the banks having heard of the bargains one could find on their lists of property repossessions.  In our price range we were certainly not offered such a wonderful.choice!  there was always something wrong;. rundown neighbourhood, attics with no lift, even damage by vandalism before eviction or just generally in bad condition.  In the end, we bought from an estate agent who now works with a firm which you may be familiar with in Canada called Keller Williams.  Why not see what they have to offer on their web page?

I have been noticing the rough condition of the repo properties. Many with all kitchens completely removed. I however have a construction company for 15 years and have turned ugly ducklin's to beautiful swans;)

Hope to snatch a few bargains.
