Hello! We're here for the winter to try and get my husband well after several years of undiagnosed illness. The past couple of UK winters he has been bed ridden. 4th week into our trip he's doing well. We have 2 children aged 9 and 11. We are keen to integrate into spanish life,  we are all learning spanish. We're looking for recommendations of places to settle for the winter along this coast. Ideally warm, afordable and hospitable... looking forward to hearing from you! Emma, Jon and family 😀

Hi there. Hope things continue to improve for you. I don’t know of actual chalets, villas or apartments but we are in a rented apartment in Roquetas just 10 mins walk from the beach. The temperature at night is around 20 and in the day around 23 indoors - no heating required at all as yet. It has been good for my arthritis and other health problems we have. It’s a pleasant community with shops, cafes etc all near at hand and we attend Spanish lessons locally 4 evenings a week.

If you wish more info just send me a private message. And good luck!

Hi, Chrisso50,

I am visiting Roquetas de Mar from January to April,2019 as a tourist.  I would like to know If I can attend Spanish lessons locally like you even if I am just there for a few months?

Kind regards,

Hi Tommy. Yes you can. But firstly - do you know quite a bit of Spanish already - or are you a beginner? Secondly - there are free lessons and there are also paid lessons - at €8 an hour.  Message me privately if you want more info on both types but indicate if you are a beginner or an improver.

hello Emma, John and family - It is good that your hubby is feeling better.  Warm weather helps with most aches and pains.  Does your hubby have co-ordination diifficulties, maybe on only one side of his body - a foot, or a hand?  If so, please e-mail me back.  Do look at Almerimar - it is very sociable, with activities most evenings and some during the day.  There are Brits, Swedes, Danes - lots of different nationalities though English is the common language. Everything you may need is in walking distance of the Marina.   You could rent long term to try it.  Regards, Jane
