Hi, I return to Ireland in late August and a PCR is needed definitely. Problem is labs closed Sunday, I fly Tuesday evening, results take up to 48 hours in spain but needs be within 72 hours of landing in Ireland. So Saturday evening too early for pcr, monday morning too late.

Would anyone know GP or local lab that I could contact to see if they can help with predicament.

Thank you

Diarmuid

Hi Diarmuid

If you don't mind a bit of bother, (and if the PCR requirement is still in place for travel to Ireland from Spain at the end of August), you might consider travelling via the UK.  If you use Ryanair from Malaga in late August and pick a day that suits Ryanair, you'll get to Dublin via Manchester for about €45 including a small bag to fit under the seat in front of you. Flights from Almeria are ridiculously expensive.

If you've got a bigger bag up to 20kg, it would be a lot cheaper, and a great deal less hassle to send it on by one of the Irish courier firms, such as Sendmybag.ie.  They'll pick up your bag in Spain and deliver it to your place in Ireland. A bag up to 20kg will cost you around €35 and take about 6 business days.  You can track its progress online.

By the way, Diarmuid, if you've been fully vaccinated, you won't need the PCR test at all to enter Ireland from Spain.  Just show a clear copy of your digital cert to the nice people at the check in desk and again at the Irish airport. If you got your vaccination from your GP, it will have been posted to your Irish address.  You'll need someone to open the letter, make a clear copy of the cert, and send it to you by WhatsApp.

Good luck

Thanks for comprehensive reply. I ok I vaccinated and have digital cert but twas for teen daughters and we have flights booked dublin almeria. I can change dates if need be or await girls vaccination. Interesting your comments on flights to Almeria and price. Very cheap from ireland at present and we normally envious of uk prices to spain.

Appreciate response. If I dont find a place I go anyway and go into Almeria for a day to check to see if it can be done. If not we may need stick it out over there for a few months😁😁my wife will  be devestated😎😎.

Cheers

Diarmuid
