Forgive me Reetpetit, I regret to say because of the Covid-19 situation I don't believe you'll have that holiday - just my opinion and I hope I'm wrong.

It’s all very ... confused ... at the moment, with us now entering a “de-escalation”, split into phases.  Movement between the phases is predicated on certain benchmarks being met, the primary one being no rise in infections.

What hasn’t been outlined in our de-escalation procedures is in what “phase” borders will be re-opened and overseas visitors welcomed.

There are those proclaiming that Spain loves the UK income so much it will rush to welcome them back.  Alas, this is most definitely not the case.

I’ve said that my OPINION (please note those that would leap upon this statement, it is purely my opinion) is that the earliest we could expect to see tourism return is about September - so you MIGHT be lucky, but I’d not be holding your breath.  By all means hope for the best and the ability to get here, but also I would strongly suggest you plan for the worst.

Are Mathew and Dario the 2 most pesimistic people on this forum. Just saying.

How Ya James! I was wondrin' where you were. I'm glad you're still around. If you guarantee Reetpetit and anybody else that they'll be flying into Costa Almeria this summer for a holiday I'll even buy you a pint.

Am I pessimistic? Yes. You see I'm in the business of truth and not just the first thought of somebody who'd exit Who Wants to be Millionaire? at the £100 Question having used all the "lifelines."

Pessimistic? No. Just realistic.  Being here kind of gives you a sense of what’s happening.  I’ll pretty much guarantee you won’t be driving here in June.

I just checked a popular Irish website that advertises private rentals in Spain (and elsewhere). There were five new ads in the last 24 hours for Spain this summer. That's what I call a Definition of Optimism, but a waste of good money in advertising.

moving in the other direction we were booked in April to go by ferry to the UK and changed this to September before the lockdown happened but now we are certain we will not be going to the UK in September  because we are pretty sure that the restrictions will still be in place and it would not be a nice experience so we will rebook for next year and hope the world is a safer place by then. we have just be given a partial refund of our annual travel insurance which is something.

Mathew.

Do you have the details of the Irish company advertising rentals.

For future reference.

Cheers. Davy..
