The Irish government has announced 12th March that all people arriving in Ireland by air or sea from Spain (and most European countries) will be required to self-isolate for 14 days.
Schools and colleges are closed, and almost all sports and cultural events have been cancelled or postponed. 200 prisoners considered low risk have been released early. A new direct ferry service from Rosslare, Ireland to Bilbao departed with just 4 cars!
This news prompted a run on the supermarkets.
Irish citizens are advised not to travel out of the country unless necessary.
