In short no, you would probably have to find a new apartment block in  Almeria Centre or Barcelona or Granada or Madrid, these beach type properties have as yes ,as far as Inknow do not have adequate sound proofing.

Why not move to Vera if it suits your job, Al Andaluc gated properties, not high rise very quiet except for July and August , however not a roundly setting, I like visiting there and it's a great place to live.

If you need so much peace and quiet you should move away from the madding crowd, close to nature, the country side, in a small house on a small plot or a flat within a 2 - flat house, or in a village atmosphere. Roquetas is really not meant for you. It is over populated. Or look for some one needing to have his house looked after in a second appartment in the house during the owners time away. Look and you shall find.

Perhaps a detached house in a quiet area would suit you better

Sadly it doesn't suit my place of work or wallet! :(

What does this mean? Roquetas is not in the least ‘over populated’. Yes, it’s a popular Spanish resort in the summer but it’s fairly quiet in the off season. Where we are in the urba there is hardly a sound at night. But the fewer Brits that come here the better! We like the local life and culture 🤗

No not bad luck just poorly insulated buildings. I had the same issues as yourself with an apartment in Mojacar. Could hear everything from all four sides. Also had to move from a house due to the noise of the house next door being rented out and people arriving at all hours and slamming car doors and partying. At least in rented you can move on.

The noise seems to actually be coming from the apartment which is next to us, but actually above. Although next door's TV can be heard crystal clear.

I've ordered a sound bar for the TV as the sound quality on our TV is quite poor and hopefully it adds some bass and blocks out the noise of all the clomping around.

We want to try and stick it out for the term of the agreement. The saving grace is being able to get a good night's sleep. In the last place we were awake at all hours.

We're both country bumpkins and although we've lived in apartments before, we've never heard anything like this before.

I'm  sorry for you it is really irritating, we have the same problem in our flat near Aguilas  when the neighbours are here, but fortunately  we're  only here in the winter and the neighbours are mostly  here in summer and  for Fiestas. I don't think there much you can do it's  the Spanish culture and they're so used to it they don't  notice. Would you consider living in a large caravan then you would at least be detached and  I think many sites are mostly quiet retired BRITS?

Be careful and take the advice of moving into the countryside with a bag of salt.

I am in my 14th rental since moving to Spain in October 2015. I am on pensions, so the price of the rent to me is a priority.

I absolutely detest noise and have moved around from apartments to villas, to cortijos and back around again etc. to find a quieter environment. From Alicante right down to the Huercal Overa / Albox area.

From personal experience, top floor apartments in a non holiday area are probably best or as someone suggested, an annex type place where the owners of a villa are away most of the time. ( Like what I am in now. )

The only place that I have been was really quiet was in Camposol. Huge estates of empty villas, which after moving there I found the reason being the huge stinking pig farms around the area and the poor construction of prefabricated concrete panels which meant a lot were falling apart making them unsaleable and almost impossible to heat in the winter. The road I was in had less than 10% occupancy and had virtually no holiday makers with it being over 30 minutes drive to the beaches.

Incidentally, the Spanish will always be very loud, as it is a throwback from Franco's time in power. Everybody had to be loud enough for all around to overhear them so that they couldn't be suspected of conspiracy and arrested and shot etc.

The countryside is quieter from less neighbours shouting at each other, but they all have dogs of which they do not control their barking, so they bark all day and night. Dogs are necessary though with the burglaries of being away from neighbours.

Another thing to consider are neighbours with chickens and the cockerels starting at daylight... very early in the summer!

Again someone said to keep looking, so good luck, hope you find something quicker than myself.

Hi Britboyz, I really do sympathise, we had a holiday apartment in Roquetas and God help us if we were there the same time as the people upstairs!! When we moved to Spain full time we bought a house in a lovely development in Alfaix, near Los Gallardos. No people noise, just barking dogs!! You do get used to it. The Spanish are a noisy race and seem oblivious to the effect it has on others but I think you just have to focus on the benefits of living in this beautiful country. Have you tried ear plugs?? (Just a thought).
