I've taken a 3 month rental in Roquetas. The weather's pretty dismal right now but what does one do to keep busy.

Hi Louise007

Welcome to the forum.

I expect the weather will brighten up soon and when the sun shines, which will be more than likely be very soon there (unlike the UK), you may feel the benefit of the outdoor lifestyle.

I love walking and when in Spain I walk somewhere every day, often just to explore and look at the properties. The people are generally very friendly and smile and say hello. On my first few walks I remember seeing people just out walking their dogs and it was amazing what I found out about the area that way

In my area of Spain there are clubs and classes, like learning Spanish or keep fit type classes and more. It's a good way to meet people and get chatting and learn more about the area. Coach day trips are good too, they usually go somewhere interesting all year round. I don't know the coach companies in your area but someone may tell us.

Hopefully some of our friendly members can give you a good idea of things to do in your area to keep busy.

Enjoy your time in Roquetas.

Happy new year!

Jan.

Alsa bus seem to be one of the larger coach companies, you see coaches going north and south seemingly every hour, here in Huercal Overa our nearest big town theres a coach stop.

We have a local bar here in Urcal and we've made new friends at Thursday darts nite, and it might seem that several couples have settled here just before and after we got here late March which has helped everyone.

Try the British Legion, Roquetas has a sub group that's part of the Mojacar group. They have activities, lunches and fund raisers where you'll meet new people too. [email protected] is the contact.
