Hello.  My apartment appears to have all the fixings in place for a split system to be installed.  Any idea on cost of installing 3 internal wall units and external unit?  I’d be potentially sourcing the system myself.

Company recommendations also appreciated.

Hello there. I take it that you mean installing a “ducted” air con system.  That is one air con unit manages the whole system throughout the house or apartment.  We have that.  Extremely expensive to run (electricity).  Consider having separate air con units installed, and only where you really need them.  Most of our neighbours have either had theirs removed of just stopped using it, and installed single air con units and only in the rooms where needed.  All our systems are about 12/15 years old so perhaps new systems run more cheaply.  Hope this may help in your reasoning.  Regards

As Beauly says ducted system is expensive to run as you'll be using a huge unit for a small space. You won't be using all the units all the time unless you have something like a guesthouse or office.

Leroy Merlin has a very useful aircon booklet (it's in Spanish, of course) which gives you a very good idea of what you require  - and the costs. Also, important is the quietness of the unit - it's not nice to sit down for a beer or glass of wine in front of the telly with a continuous whooshing sound in the background.
