Trampas placed strategically at door thresholds and window ledges - but still the matacucarachas get in and sit tight on the bedroom wall. Should we perhaps be doing something different - or is this just a fact of life in Spain?

Hi,.for all creepy crawlies we spray with Maton which is brilliant if a bit smelly. Any ferateria.or supermarket. We do all doorways ( all around ) and vents.

We had a cockroach problem when we first purchased our apartment and so also sprayed around all bases etc. Bathrooms & kitchens are favourite. You will need to repeat as and when as its not an ovicide. The long lasting is effective for 6 months so we treat generously before we vacate.

Hope that helps.

We eradicated ours so best of luck.

Thanks - useful advice! And reviews say Maton is the best. When you say to spray around doorways is that just at floor level or around the whole doorframe? And is it worthwhile doing window-frames too? We now just need to make sure it's OK with a dog in the apartment.

Really not able to comment on safety but can says. Keep.out of way of children & away from foid, drink & animal foodstuffs. Do not breathe in.fumes & protect eyes.

All I can comment is that we had cats and.no problems.

It is difficult with pets but now we are.pet free.

Do you have a vet you.use who might advise??

Mix sugar with polyfilla or similar powdered filler. Be generous with the sugar when you mix it in with the dry powder filler. Cockroaches love sugar they cannot resist it.

Place the sugar filler in a saucer/tray in strategic places.

When swallowed the moisture intake will solidify the mixture and they simply starve to death unable to eat.

Keep an eye on the ' mix ' and top up if necessary.

Cockroaches leave an invisible trail to humans, which other roaches can follow. The trail will help your sugar filler traps as these trails will attract more cockroaches.

Our pool room was infested with hundreds of roaches. Two traps got rid of the lot.

I learned this trick from an old Spanish friend. He knew his stuff. Long since gone bless him!
