Am l the only person to be affected by no winter flights into Almeria surely there must be people would like to see there family during the winter or even rent there homes and are restricted by the lack of easy access from the North West and North East UK. Our route this winter is still only via Malaga yes it is a good route but surely with the experience of last winter and the  drop in visitors to the whole region and the closures of well establish business's closing due to lack of trade. If you check the Landing Charges on the Spanish Web site for Airport Charges you will see Almeria is a Cat 3 Airport and is cheaper than Malaga and Alicante or is there a more sinister reason why Airlines are being unwelcome to use Almeria from November to May.

I entirely agree; we have to fly down from Inverness to pick up a flight from Gatwick to Almeria. So we'd welcome winter flights from Scottish airports. Actually I'd really welcome a flight at any time of the year from Inverness to Malaga, Alicante or Almeria but that's probably too much to hope for.

No one has picked up the old Manchester-Almeria slots on Monarch, but I think if an airline actually tried a winter flight from the Northwest or Northeast England to Almeria they'd be surprised because I bet they'd have good passenger numbers.

Hi Roy

We are from the West Midlands and have the same trouble as you and have to go from Gatwick in the winter it is aong journey and we have to travel overnight.

I contacted Jet2 as you asked last year and they did say they had no plans for flights but if people contacted them they would always look into it if enough people did.

We are very pleased to see you are continuing your compain and will help any way we can

Ray and Kath

Kath & Ray l am so glad to hear from you we did the Gatwick flight from Cheshire, the M56-M6-M40-M25-M23, is a really tough drive and l drive 44,000kgs Tankers, still do, for anyone to say different try and tell a family who want to visit there family in Almeria from the North West & North East even our friends in Scotland they will totally agree its a real headache. I have sent a post to "Jan" editor of the Forum hoping she could help us post the Winter Flight problem to the entire region of Almeria including the Spanish community as they will suffer loss of trade and employment come on us "SENIOR SILVERS" lets try "PENSION POWER" bye for now regards Roy 71(for a reason)

Hi

We are relocating in December and I wrote to jet2 to ask about flights into the new corvera airpot near Murcia as we will be traveling from Glasgow. At the moment they plan to do Leeds and mancher from March. I have asked about Glasgow and they also said if they get enough interest they will put them on. So keep emailing guys about winter flights too as it only an hour from Albox too

Susan

Hi Roy 71

I appreciate it is a long time since you put up your message about the scarcity of flights from Scotland to Malaga (and none at all during the winter to Almería).

Rather than burden yourself with the long trip and the delights of Manchester, Heathrow or Gatwick, you might consider transiting via Dublin.  There's up to 15 flights a week from Dublin to Malaga during the off-season (30+ weekly during peak season), and about 30 a week from Scotland to Dublin all year.  Right now Ryanair is offering flights one way between Dublin-Glasgow and Dublin-Edinburgh for €5/£5 (including random seating and personal bag which must fit under the seat in front of you).  Dublin to Malaga or vice versa one way is €40 on a good day.  Only real downside with transit using Ryanair in Dublin is you have to check out at Dublin and check back in again for the trip to Malaga.  You need allow extra time if you need to check in a bag.

(Note: The pub at the front door of Dublin airport which backs on to the "Aircoach"  bus terminal serves one of the best pints of Guinness you've ever tasted!)
