U.K. Govt advice on travel insurance and EHIC card after a No Deal

EU Exit update
Insurance for trips to the EU on or after 30 March 2019If you are taking out travel insurance shortly after the UK leaves the EU, you should make sure you understand the terms and conditions of your travel insurance policy. Also make sure that the policy is sufficient to cover possible disruption.
If you already have travel insurance, your insurer should let you know if there are changes that will affect you after the UK leaves the EU. If you have questions about what your travel insurance policy covers, or whether it covers possible disruption, you may wish to contact your insurer.
European Health Insurance Cards (EHIC) may stop being valid if the UK leaves the EU with no deal. If this happens, it is particularly important to check the small print to make sure your travel insurance covers your healthcare needs throughout any time spent within the EU.

This govt advice is still relevant. Unless Brexit is cancelled.
Regardless of Brexit UK travellers will always need to have travel insurance cover that includes repatriation cover in case of a serious illness or injury. I see so many news reports of people stuck in a Spanish hospital and relying on donations to fly them home in an air ambulance because they came out here without any insurance cover. The EHIC cover is for emergency treatment and won’t fly you back to the UK.
