The British ambassador in Cyprus has today addressed British residents there - they face additional difficulties than those for Britons living in Spain, because of partition with the Green Line. Cyprus is the only British zone in the EU where the euro is the currency used, unlike for example Gibraltar.

“In a No Deal Brexit, Britons should still be able to cross the Green Line. The EU’s Green Line Regulation allows non-EU nationals to cross the line provided they have a valid travel document and, if required, a valid visa for the Republic. We’re not anticipating British nationals needing a visa to visit Cyprus, so you should be able to cross with a valid British passport. Please note, however, that as non-EU nationals, Britons will no longer have an automatic right to work in the Republic.”

Dont think Cyprus is British these days, stand alone EU member. Advise is given re crossing into Turkish held area to north.

Fair comment! Cyprus joined the EU as a de facto divided island in 2004. But 4% of Cyprus is British sovereign territory: the two British Sovereign Base Areas of Akrotiri and Dhekelia. And Akrotiri and Dhekelia (like the rest of the Republic of Cyprus) adopted the euro in 2008, making the Sovereign Base Areas the only territory under British sovereignty to officially use the euro. They are like small towns, with factories, schools and agricultural use fields and concerns have also been raised about the future status of around 15,000 native Cypriots – EU citizens - living or working in the sovereign base areas.
