Yes about 20 minutes to go! Fast track...... second vote thrown out (democratic process in the UK) leave on 29th with no deal. Iron out the creases later. Simples!!

While the Wollaston amendment will likely fail, one thing I think is certain - UK will NOT be leaving EU on 29/3 YAYYYYYYYY

I still remain confused as to why allowing people to have another say, now that more facts are at hand, is “undemocratic” - democratic process should favour a second referendum / people’s vote

Dario - “I still remain confused as to why allowing people to have another say, now that more facts are at hand, is “undemocratic” - democratic process should favour a second referendum / people’s vote.”

Indeed. When we have elections we do not say - ‘the people have decided, there should be no policies review, no more elections’ - and occasionally there have been two elections in one year!  Outrageously undemocratic apparently.

However. If May persuades her party within her party (ERG) to back her deal on the third opportunity, next week, then she will start passing the legislation and go to the EU meeting on 21 March to seek an extension until 30 June. The U.K. may become a third country (outside the EU and EEA) from that date...

Brexit latest news: Reprieve for Theresa May as MPs fail in bid to seize control of Brexit by two votesTelegraph.co.uk
I'm trying to make sense of the foregoing  headlines of less than an hour. Just when we thought the Tory Keystone Cops couldn't get any worse, they have. I'm just wondering what if the EU tells UK Parliament - No Extension, you've had enough time, get your act together!
We in Ireland are retaliating already:-(a) We intended beating Wales on Saturday thereby almost handing the Six Nations Championship to England. We are now going to leave Wales win.(Well! They voted Remain and must be rewarded)(b) Our Celtic neighbours in Scotland will up their performance too when they visit Twickenham. Don't be surprised if England comes out second best.(c) We're now in cahoots with Remain Voters (Scotland + Wales + Northern Ireland) and we're handing the Six Nations Title to Wales. [insert winking smilie here].Don't blame us; you brought this on yourselves. And we won't finish there, wait until the Rugby World Cup.

On a more serious note, I am listening to a live news radio broadcast from Maidenhead (Theresa May's constituency) where the average price of a house is only £750,000. Her constituents appear to be behind her and support her every move and cannot understand the delay of Brexit where the EU will be pining to deal with the UK. They want all this resolved before they retreat to their summer homes in Devon, Cornwall, Wiltshire and Wales.

I'm sure we can all feel what they are feeling. Meanwhile, in the real UK many are still apprehensive and are filled with some kind of fear that they might not be working this time next year while paying dearer for their groceries, petrol, pharmaceuticals and holidays (if they can have holidays).

Labour abstained yesterday in one of the votes. A wise move I think. This ain't over yet. I'm sticking with my beliefs a delay of some months, then a further delay, a general election then no Brexit whatsoever.

I wonder if that live radio broadcast was from La Paratá what would the issues be?

I happen to have lived in Maidenhead as a teenager and still have family there. Maidenhead is a safe Tory seat but 56% voted Remain. Leave is not the will of May’s constituents.

Unfortunately, a delusional May seems to think it is

Matthew, as one of our Irish brethren ... what is your reaction to the news that Theresa May(hem) might be trying to BUY the DUP's votes in a third "Meaningful Vote" next week?

As an aside, wouldn't it set the cat amongst the proverbial pigeons if Speaker John Bercow refused to allow the motion to be debated and voted on on the basis that The House had already decided the issue and the motion remains substantially unchanged ........  I really wouldn't put it past him you know :-)
