I Keep seeing posts on this forum from fellow Brits who are planning to relocate here to Spain after Brexit. They seem totally oblivious to how losing our EU citizenship, freedom of movement and all associated rights will affect them.

Some are planning to move from another EU country to Spain but, if Brexit goes ahead, they will still need to register here as ‘third’ country (not EU country) immigrants in a ‘no deal’ situation and if there is a deal, they will need to move before the WA transition period ends.

Even with a deal, our post-Brexit rights will only apply to the country we are legally residing in at the time of Brexit – ‘onward freedom of movement’ is NOT included in the Withdrawal Agreement, although British in Europe are fighting very hard to get this right protected.

The only way to ensure that people have a chance of remaining here after Brexit (if they wish to avoid that third country immigration criteria) is to move before it happens and if they are unable to register in time, at least obtain proof that they did actually reside here before the exit date.

Or, just stop Brexit ...

And before an ostrich pops up and says this is “just scaremongering”, it isn't, these are well documented and published facts.

Indeed. But if non-resident and here for less than six months a year then travel restrictions will apply: 90 days travel in any 180 day period.

Thanks once again Chrisso for this information.  I’m wondering now with BoJo a.k.a Boris the Buffoon in charge, whether the “Revoke Article 50” thread will get some more attention!! 🤣

It is somewhat concerning that the brainless wonder has ended up in the top job, but as noted previously elsewhere, I feel he now sups from a poisoned chalice - it will be “interesting” to see if he can make good on his “do or die” promise. I think not.

That being said, I’m very glad we have our Residencia - but I’d much prefer it if we could maintain the status quo and just abandon this utterly ridiculous, costly and damaging idea of leaving the EU ... let’s face it, troubles in Iran? .... who is the first body UK turns to .....? *cough* eu *cough* .....

The above offensive post [since removed by admin] is from a stalker or ‘troll’ and has been reported to forum admin. Previous posts from that person have also been reported and removed.

Stalker you wish ha ha ha ha ha, I live in roquetas but dont agree with what your trying to put on this forum,  if a different option is worth banning a person from this site then so be it, baring in mind folks I have never been a name caller, belittled a persons spelling, or said they are a ostrich due to my own beliefs that the comments made by this person on the site may affect the vulnerable elderly ex Pat's.

I cant believe that in 2019 we have someone calling people monkeys on a forum, this is a racist post and should be reported to the authorities as such. But of course Jim 1 will hide behind his/her computer screen.
