Don’t know whether this has been asked before, but is there a car hire company that lets you pick a car up from Malaga Airport and, once you’ve used it to drive to Roquetas de Mar, can return it to an office in Roquetas?  And then do it in reverse, from Roquetas de mar back to Malaga airport?  Do not need to hire a car for the whole holiday as we like walking and the bus service is quite good.  We believe this will probably be cheaper than a taxi, although don’t really want to spend a long time on buses.

Thank you for your reply.  Had a look on the website.  The nearest place to return the hire car was Almeria Airport, about 40 minutes by car from Roquetas so would have a lot of travelling to do back by bus.  Their charge is £72.00 for 2 days, and they want a “refundable deposit” of over £1000.  Looks like the taxi is less hassle at the moment.  Thanks again for trying to help.

Thank you again for trying to help, and I know I’m probably being very picky, but the booking form on line is not secure and don’t really want to put my passport number and credit card details “out there” for everyone.  The other problem is my husband is now over 70 and some hire companies won’t let you hire a car at that grand old age, even though he still walks up to 10 miles a day and has 2 allotments!

Need to do something similar but from murcia. Only company we came up with was Europcar. They have an office in Roquetas .

Many thanks for your reply.  Just checked Europcar and their basic charge is still over €90.  Looks like the taxi is still favourite at approx €20 extra, no fuel charges and not driving for 2 hours.

You are basically requiring transport from Malaga to RdM and then back again later. There is an Express bus that takes 2.5-3 hours from Malaga to Almeria Interchange. Another bus goes from here to the Almeria Interchange. Have not used it myself but it sounds like what you need.

Had a quick look, yes it does seem good.  Will have to use it next time we have to fly to Malaga.  The  4 o’clock in the afternoon seems favourite as that doesn’t stop, goes straight to Almeria.  Many thanks.

Goldcar definitely allow one way rentals, but charge up to €120 for the service.

I collected a car from Corvera and returned it to Almeria. However, despite the €65 charge, I still ended up ahead because I had a weeks rental to be refunded.

Like all things in life, you can get what ever you want as long as you're prepared to pay the bill.

Just looked at eurocar as we want a one way trip in May, and it has come up as 1,600 euro for one day!
