spanish news today that Almeria airport is opening for flights carrying essential goods and sanitary medical equipment only.  Other flights will rely on the different flight carriers putting their fleets of planes back in the air.  that's not likely until the restrictions are lifted both in Spain and the UK.

When it is all over, the new normal may look quite different. Some airlines expect to be 40% smaller and airlines will not want to run low load flights. So don’t just assume the old timetables will click in automatically. They will test demand and adjust accordingly.

I had my flight cancelled by Jet2.  It was to be middle of May from Belfast to Almeria. I also have one booked for August from Belfast with Jet2, but I can't  see that going either.  At other times during the year I travel with Easyjet from Gatwick to Almeria but I don't think there's anything going to happen with Easyjet before October.

Thanks

That's good to know.  I thought that Easyjet were doing no flights until at least June.  I have one booked with Jet2 to Almeria for August, so I'll wait to see if that's going.

EasyJet have grounded their fleet and not advised a date when they will resume flights. The only reason they have not formally cancelled future flights is because you can claim a refund if they do. We had same issue with Ryanair flights in April they only sent a cancellation advice 48 hours before the flight departed. We still haven’t had refund yet although we have now received 3 emails saying that it is being processed!

We also have flights with Air France booked in May and these have not yet been cancelled either, although we have been offered a “free” transfer to another later date and/or route.

Jet 2 have announced on their website that they will resume flights on 17th June, I have no idea on what basis they came up with that date and am sceptical that they would be able to operate a full schedule.

As other posters have said at the minute there is no indication when restrictions will be lifted and its almost certain they will not be simultaneously coordinated across UK and Spain or the rest of Europe.

Strange times indeed.

I had received an email from Jet2 informing me that my flight was cancelled for mid May to Almeria and that they would be in contact with me at a later date to discuss my options.  It's probably too early for Jet2 to contact me about my August booking.

I had gone to Gatwick on 11 March to travel with Easyjet to Almeria, but that morning, on hearing about the situation in Spain getting bad, I decided not to travel on my flight, therefore I lost my money.  I  booked a flight straight back to Belfast with Easyjet.

My planned return flight from Almeria to Gatwick on 25th March was eventually cancelled by Easyjet, so I would have had the hassle of trying to book a rescue flight, getting to the airport etc.,  I do not have Internet access when in my apartment in Almeria and travel alone, so I could not handle the stress of it all.

Just waiting now to see what happens in the future with travel to and from Almeria.

they have cancelled us 3 times already  just want to hang onto  the dosh no doubt

no way are spain going to let flights in as lockdown is extended every 2 weeks .
