Any advice or experience welcome

I fly out on Wednesday and I will need to open a bank asap (I give my deposit for my apartment a few days later and start my new job the following week.)

I've looked and there are a few options for banks, just wondering if anyone is currently with a bank and can recommend one. I will be sending about €400 per month back to England to cover some bills.

Also, what documents will I need? I have pretty much everything here but need to be prepared.

Hi again - Chris here. This is the answer I sent you on 26 June:

“Hi again

I forgot to mention (re. bank account). We opened an account with Sabadell in March 2018. We have been happy with them and it’s free banking as long as €700 is paid in (in total) each month. There’s a branch in central Roquetas and a couple of staff speak some English. I have heard horror stories about another bank (Bankia) but never about Sabadell.

Nothing to add except that you will need a passport, rental agreement and maybe some evidence of your income source. You would be able to set up a monthly rental direct debit. If you decide to use the Sabadell branch in central Roquetas  ask for Ana Belen, she speaks English.

Good luck

Chris

PS: if you need any tips or help, just send us a private message. We are a retired couple, living here for the last 15 months.

And I’d like to support Chris’ recommendations.  I’ve been with Sabadell in Vera since 2014, and I’m very very happy with them.  We also have our business account with them.

They are progressive, helpful and their distance banking app is really really good and of course they offer it in English if required.

We've been with Sabadell since 2016 and been very happy with the service, app etc.

Hi

Sorry it's taken so long for me to respond and say thank you for your replies. I have now moved to roquetas and settled into my apartment. I finally have my apartment and internet sorted out to be on this forum.

I will have my residency arranged next week arranged by school so I will be able to look at banks then.

Thank you again.
