I’m in Vera Playa on the border of Palomares; I use Iberdrola and have their “Elige 8 horas” plan.  From the App, you can decide what times you want cheap rate electricity, up to 8 hours a day.  Doesn’t have to be contiguous, and doesn’t have to be the same every day, and can be changed in a few seconds on the app, so you can set your schedule to what suits your needs best  and change it as needs change.  My average bill is 68€ a month for two people (using Aircon, fans, computers, cooker, fridge etc etc)

Thank you so much for your prompt reply is that amount you have quoted 68€ does it also include this companies standing order charge . I will definitely look into this company .

Darío, I'm shocked how little you pay and now looking to switch from Fenie. We've paid up to 200€ in a single month and even now with the Termo fitted was still charged well over 100€  for last month. Do any companies do smart meters so we'd know what we are using?

Yes - that’s the total amount I pay - sometimes a little more, sometimes a little less.

You can contract with Iberdrola online as well.

Iberdrola use the smart meter - that’s how you can choose / set your “choose 8 hours” plan.

We don’t boil / freeze just to save electricity either … if Aircon / heater / fan is needed - it’s used.  The only concessions I have made are firstly ditching all halogen lights and switching to LED bulbs / strip lights … but that benefits not only in cost but in lowered heat output as well - and let’s face it, the LED bulbs come in every colour, shade, brightness, shape and design now so I’m not really compromising on aesthetics either; and secondly putting a timer on the hot water service plug so that the hot water service only comes on during my chosen cheap rate - I can of course adjust both the timer and cheap rate to suit.

I’ve been advised that it’s not neccessary to do that, as instead of staying hot, when heater comes on, it has to heat the whole tank - but if tank is insulated, the water should maintain temperature without needing the heater on all the time.  My hot water service is only a small 50 litre, so doesn’t take long to heat up anyway - and when I DID try take the timer off, my electricity bill had a significan spike for the 5 days I had the timer off.

The Iberdrola app also let’s you monitor what you are using daily

Thanks Dario. We have a washing machine and a rarely used dishwasher but never dare switch on the air con. We have a gas cooker and the water is heated for free. We definitely have the wrong lightbulbs

Damn! Switch to Iberdrola and start saving!!

Tell you what if you *DO* switch to Iberdrola, it’ll ask if you have a reference code - i.e. been referred … if so, please use Y5679655A - that way we *BOTH* get a 25€ discount on next bill
