Hi from Puerto Lumbreras,

We have a brilliant  Spanish Plumber who does the plumbing, AC, electrics and Solar on our 2 properties. He is just back from holiday. Unfortunately he doesn't speak English which puts off most Brits. We manage perfectly well with Google translate and diagrams and his professionalism. To tell the truth, after 15 years we tend to steer clear of Brits.

Anyway if you are interested please pm me and can give e mail and phone/whatsapp.

You will see a chap advertising called Gary Knowles. We had him at one time and his work was horrendous. Wouldn't recommend to my worse enemy. It was experiences like that that turned us to Spanish tradesmen.

Can you not pop down to a local ferretaria and explain to them what the problem is ?, please be aware that most plumbers who may come out have call out charges somerimes in the region of €35-€50 plus the cost of a simple part, sometimes its as silly as a small pipe thats become disconnected, most modern toilet "plungers"work off a simple vacuum tube.

Ok hi again.

I've just taken the button mechanism apart, if yours is like ours, a bella vista, and if the chrome button is on top, try unscrewing the bigger ring, if the pushrod is still attached it should come out as well leaving a hole. The chrome button and surround should now come out and the cistern lid will be removable as well.

There should be a small nylon/plastic rod with a small threaded end, it could be as simple as the rod having become detached from the actuator button.

Whilst the lid is off try pressing the flush assembly down, if it flushes then its the button and the threaded rod that have become detached.

Try putting them back together and slowly, carefully insert the small threaded end into the top of the cistern push down, as you turn the big ring/tube it sheould all fit back together and upon pushing the button should flush.

If there are any broken parts you see whilst you have the lid off then obviously you need a new flush unit.

This is for a similar bellavista toilet and would probably just be a starting point for other makes of toilet,

Hi, if yours is like ours, a bella vista, the button is inside a larger "ring" that is actually a tube going down onto the plunger mechanism and unless youve taken this off and not just the button, the lid will stay locked in place, one of our toilets has an outer ring that I would have to use pliers on, the other one I used as a reference came unscrewed very easily.

For further reference try youtube, may sound daft but theres most likely a video of someone having the same problem !

If you were local to Huercal I'd maybe offer to come over and have a look but we have workmen here doing stuff, partner is back in the uk so I cant really do distance.

Hope some of this helps, if I can help by doing a whatsapp shot and you can do the same the pictures might help some.
