hello new here

I have just started looking in the area to consider a purchase of a property, I have noticed there seems to be a lot of property available in the Palomares area and very cheap (not complaining at the prices) and a lot of property saying new build but 2005 and various other dates, is there any Major reasons for property not selling or is it just slower than the Costa del so area,

also looking at roquetas de mar, and  looking to plan a visit to look at all areas,

I am at very early stages at the moment but any feedback would be appreciated

many thanks

Sean

We bought a townhouse as a second property in Palomares at the end of 2017 at a very good price and have just rented it out for 6 months. Much of the property available like ours was built in 2005 as this was before the crash and little, if anything, has been built since. But the quality of the properties is fine. Some of it might not have been occupied at all which is why it is marketed as "new". The area is different from the Costa del Sol and property is much less expensive and better value for money here than there. That was the reason we originally bought in Los Gallardos. We really like Palomares; it's a great small town with good local facilities and close to the beach, bars and restaurants.

Sean, you really  need to stay in Roquetas for a week.

We have just holidayed there for the third time in two years.

No comparison with Palomares which in comparison is cash starved and run down to Roquetas.

Don't take anyone's word for it including mine, just spend a week in each place, then decide for yourself.

Besides there is no hurry to buy.

Decide where you want to be then take a long term rental.

We regret buying should have rented and kept the cash in the bank.

Hope this helps.

Hi the Costa Almeria is nothing like the C/D/Sol or C/D/Blanca, it is a lot less developed(high rise etc)and that is its charm.

Palomares was at first a great area for development with good beaches etc,BUT,then people heard about the lost nuclear bomb(in the sea) and the other 2? that landed on the area that required a lot of clean up,hence the sudden stall in sales. I work in the nuclear industry and would have no hesitation in buying there.

as for renting, you need to stay in an area for a time in all the seasons to see a better picture

Hello Sean,

I think that Palomares has a lot of property because  it is built on the edge of a sleepy village maintaining l lot of the old characteristics. It was built when there was a boom In Spain and the banks, like in America, were falling over themselves to give out mortgages. My little complex was built on farmland owned  by an old lady called Dolores, her family still farm on the land around my apartment  which looks out across to the sea.

Then came the crash, people retired the mortgages went up and people , like me, found it hard to keep paying the mortgage. I have hung on until now but unfortunately have to sell. I am thinking of long term letting. So if you would like any information on my property  please get in touch.

Pamela
