Hi

Palomares is a small village, but it does have supermarkets, banks and post office. The nearest vets are in Cuevas Del Almanzora, vera or garrucha which you would need transport for, although only a short 10-15 mins drive. I’ve lived in the area for 5 years and still enjoy it.

many thanks for your info a bit more positive than the previous reply. My wife uses a mobility scooter so unless there is good range of shops ie clothes it may not be suitable.

I caught the bus from alicante last September it took a few hours but wasn't too bad...got to almeria bus station then caught the bus to roquetas..I think from alicante was about 22 euros which was very reasonable...l suggest you stay for a few days to take a look round... the best sabinal hotel on the sea front in roquetas urbanisation would be good for you because it's in the middle between playa serena to the right along the sea front and the marina to the left...access for wheelchairs and mobility scooters is excellent my mum was in a wheelchair last year when we were there and I walked her miles nearly needed one myself by the end of the holiday lol...hope this has been helpful...to me I think this is a very special part of Spain which is quite reasonably priced and not too well know so not full of lager louts.hope you'll take a look.

Palomares has a good English community.

There is the market every Wednesday .

Villaricos which is a walk away has a large market every Sunday .

Palomares is a beautiful village. It has I think four banks, local supermarkets and a larger one in the centre of the village. The roads are quite steep in places. Depending which end of the village you live.  There are several restaurants some owned my expats and very good food. Very friendly village. I have had a property there for approx 15 yrs.   it does have a vets much not having any pets I don’t know much about it. There are busses from the village to neighbouring villages and to Mojacar.

Hopes this helps. Pamela
