Good abogado needed

I had friends in a similar position (in Valencia) a few years back, they went to court, and lost, because the courts favoured the Spanish owner and ignored all the paperwork, this went on for 2 years appeal after appeal, and cost them a few thousand, and in the end they got nothing back. So I have very little faith in Spanish courts.

If this happened to me, I would take things into my own hands, you say it is up for sale, so you could start with the estate agent, you could then knock on the door of the house, tell the renters you have come for your belongs, go to the Garda, make life difficult for this owner.

Unless you have lots of money to throw at this, then I think employing  a lawyer could be a wrong move.

Thanks for your reply Jenni. It seems all too common down here unfortunately.Essentially this guy's got 30,000 euros of my stuff and has the cheek to put it up for sale with what was the renter's property and now mine.I have an inventory of the stuff signed by the seller to me but even with that the abogado was still saying not enough for a Spanish court to get the owner to release it to me.I have made it as difficult as possible for him,put notes through his letterbox,told renter's that the stuff they are sitting on,watching or sleeping on is mine but they just srug their shoulders and say no my problem. Thinking about putting a denuncia out against him but the Guardia Civil seem to just ignore those. The owner thinks it's all one big joke🙁

Well I don't know what else you can do, can I ask is the owner and renters Spanish or English. I think any lawyer will take on your case, but its just a way of making money out of you, and as for the Garda, well I could tell you a story, I was told by the Major of the town I lived in that the Garda are only interested if there is blood spilt (his words) this was after 4 separate woman all English had been attacked by the same Spanish man,they all went to the Garda and Denounced him, the Garda did nothing, because this man was well known to do this and he was a nephew of the Major.  So I have learnt that if you want to live in a Law abiding country don't live in Spain. Unless of course there is money to be made!!!!! Cynical, yes that's me.

The renter was English and the owner part Belgium/Spanish. Someone said I should hire a couple of Morrocans to go and break both his legs......that might work!!

Now there's a good idea. I use to live in Egypt and that is exactly what would happen. The English renter should be ashamed, and the Spanish owner, no hope, he knows it will take you forever to get anything back.

To be be fair to the renter he isn't really involved in this dispute( mind you he owes me £6000 but that's another story)...The owner keeps saying I only become the fittings owner if I bought the villa but buying someone else's stuff is nothing to do with him.It is just in that villa but I own it not him.....

Well if I was the renter, I would give notice and find another place to live, but before I handed back the keys I would allow you in to remove what is rightfully yours. Then the owner gets back what is rightfully his an empty Villa. There is such a thing as a moral code, trouble is when it suits people ignore it.
