Hi all apologies for the morbid subject but I was wondering if anyone knows if there are similar plans to Pure Cremation in Spain please? We are currently non resident but wondering if we do eventually live in Spain if this is possible to save our children the hassle of arranging our disposal!!

Be careful as some of these plans are awful. There are many horror stories and companies going out of business and money lost.

A neighbour has a plan, she’s paid €4600 into it, now can’t afford it, but gets nothing back from it if she cancels it.
My broker for €30 euros a year makes all the arrangements, phone calls, registration of death etc They have negotiated a fixed price.
I actually visited a local tanatoria and negotiated an even better deal for a simple unattended cremation. Our daughters already have the funds to pay for it, if required.

I’ve given the information in my post. Best to visit a tanatorio yourself and tell them what you want. My broker only offers the service I mentioned to existing customers.

When you say broker do you mean your insurance broker

Hi, 15 years ago when we first moved to Spain like you we were non residence and still travel ling between uk and Spain, so we took out a dual cremation plan (covers both countries) with a company called Golden Leaves,  sadly my husband passed away this Christmas and by this time we had returned to the UK, so my local funeral director contacted Golden Leaves and everything was smooth sailing. So I would recommend Golden leaves after all this time they were still there and paid up without any fuss. I hope this helps.

That is really helpful thank you so much - I'm so sorry you had to go through this but it's good to know your plans went smoothly at such a difficult time.

Yes, there are several. I’ve gone with Compare Funerals.  You can contact them on [email protected] or look for them on Facebook.

We are with Avalon. It's suits us because it covers us if we totter off this mobile coil anywhere! We did do the simple funeral, then when we thought about it... with funerals/ cremations having to be in a few days in Spain (Too much heat to keep us hanging around).  It seemed mad that people should have to try to rush here! So we altered it to just a plain cremation and ashes returned. Avalon were as good as gold and gave us back the difference with no charges. They are the only ones to have a private online box, which you give a loved one the details of. In this you can put your wishes. I have put in the songs I want for a good old knees up later on!
