Is there a lot of cockroaches in almeria? Im absolutely terrified of 8 legged freaks here in the UK and I had a cockroach sit across my toes while on holiday in gran canaria and you can imagine my reaction 😱😱😱😱 if I can't cope with what we have here how will I go on with cockroaches😏😏😏  oh dear I think my fear is going to stop me, I read somewhere that a lady found them in her cupboards munching on a cardboard box and she didn't dare use the bathroom at night time.

It depends where abouts in almeria,I've lived in northern almeria now for 10 years and not seen a single cockroach... Lived in mojacar and saw a lot over a 16 year period, usually where the sewage system wasn't good...they do seem to like bathrooms,go campo not city I would say!!

we lived in Arboleas for 15 years and never saw any except in the bars and then only a couple.  we have now been in Mojacar for a year and have only seen one in a corridor in the complex and it was dead.  not a problem to be afraid of.

We live in Valle del Este - see them occasionally but certainly not so frequently as to be a problem.  If it is an issue for you, you can get cockroach baits that will allow them to feed, then go elsewhere to shuffle off their mortal coil

Thank you Dario, I don't mind if I see them outside but if they were in a property I'd be hysterical, I love a clean tidy home guess I'd be constantly cleaning and looking.

Let's be honest here - there are cockroaches in Mojacar Playa. If you hoard stuff (especially damp stuff) in a shed or press cockroaches will feel invited.

You can minimise the presence of cockroaches by using insect screens across windows and doors. Use anti cockroache powder behind fridge/freezers, underneath presses etc. Keep a spray handy too. Once a week spray the outside of windows and doors with that supermarket anti cucharacha spray.

clean all the water exit holes in sinks baths etc. Buy  a little metal screen for such holes which fit comfortably. (I don't know what they are called in Spanish, but they look like tea strainers, if you know what a tea strainer is these days).

Frequent vacuum cleaning of sofas etc is also a good prevention measure.

My Motto:- Don't give the insects a chance.

Thank you Mathew, I'm a clean freak and I hate clutter so I guess I would be OK,
