Hi, I’m flying into Murcia, Corvera on 11th June. Can you suggest a good car rental company that doesn’t load extras such as insurance, excess, etc,. I’d be grateful if some suggestions/ recommendations.

Hi

I've booked through DoyouSpain, car hire from the 11/06 to 17/06 cost me €22, I've got an annual insurance policy.  If you're flying with Ryanair they're offering 50% off car hire

Hi,

Al Andalus seems to get positive reviews.

They put an "excess payment" on your credit card which they remove on completion of the car hire - this is just to ensure that you don't do a runner in case of damage to the vehicle.

The very expensive damage waiver insurance to cover the excess damage clause is how they make their profits and is easily remedied by purchasing annual cover in the UK for approximately £60 - I use insure4carhire and it provides cover for the whole of Europe including UK car hire.

To clarify, they don't actually take a payment from your card they just ensure that they can take funds from it to cover any damage up to the stated limit - I've never had any problems with this.

Hi, good morning . Thanks for your reply. Yes I too have an annual excess insurance from U.K. which covers me for £7500. But I’ve just spoken to Goldcar hire at Murcia airport and they say I’ve still got to leave €1100 as a deposit.... they ‘block’ it on my card. Is this the same with all car rentals?

I would never never use Goldcar anywhere, from experience (they rented us a car with a completely bald  wrong size spare wheel, when we needed it after a puncture they said WE had sold the good one and replaced it with the dud! We wasted a day of holiday getting it sorted) Look up reviews of goldcar for more horror stories...
