Hi we are moving to the Oria area and we want to at least swim in the Med once a week. Where are the best beaches to swim preferably with calmer waters as I'm not getting any younger!

Thanks

Peter

Hi Peter, in Oria you are at least an hour and a quarter/hour and a half from the sea. Your best bet is beaches at Vera Playa/Garrucha . Mojacar is similar time away but packed in summer with all the tourists. The naturist area is probably best as usually least crowded.

Hope this helps,

Tony.

I would also recommend the beaches and sea at Aguilas. We often travel there from Chirivel.

Also the next door beach, my particular favourite...Cooks Beach. Last Oct when my pool was 22 degrees, the sea here was 25!  Love it!

Hi,

How much would you say it costs to run a 4 bed villa (no mortgage) and live fairly comfortably these days in Oria or surrounding areas?

Thanks for any tips - Tasha

Someone has suggested Vera Playa which I personally would not recommend if you are seeking calmer waters. I live on VP and do not venture into the sea very often as it can be quite rough with rogue waves knocking you off your feet when you are trying to get out as at the edge it is fairly steep. San Juan, Villaricos and Mojacar for me are better options.
