Hello
I hope this information might help you, you will need your NIE number or NIA to go to the doctor in Spain and all sorts of documents such as your passport, your EHC with you to register, but read below before you go there; the nearest hospitals are Huercal Overa and Granada. HOWEVER if you have private medical cover my advice is use it! I have read many complaints about the medical centre in Oria, I have not used it though, BUT one lady with diabetes had huge problems getting in there during the lock down and according to her report she was verbally abused, she wrote on this web site complaining about the female doctor, perhaps you can search for the email she sent which might help you. The UK are still in the EU and therefore you are entitled to use the Spanish Medical system till the end of this year, the UK will pay the Spanish for your treatment, you are not getting it free, as mentioned you will need your E111 EHC CARD for them to claim their payment and trust me you will have to submit it. On that note I was recently told a couple of pensioners were locked down in Oria in February/March for almost 5 months and they were charged 120 euro for their medication, despite the pharmacy in ORIA having the EHC and a copy of the prescription from their UK GP, the couple are now in the process of claiming it back from the UK. I find it incredible that they did this to such a lovely couple who go out of there way to help others, the couple had to contact their UK bank to get them to send funds to them in Spain as their Spanish bank closed down at the beginning of the lock down. That couple do not live in Spain they are in their 70's and came to Spain for 3 weeks only, during the lockdown not one person came to their door asking to help them, however they have family in Gibraltar where they went for the cash they needed, as they came to Spain for only 3 weeks they did not bring their debit or credit cards, they brought some euros they had, when they went to Gibraltar for their money they met a pensioner in a similar situation to them they too were locked down, but they did not see a day where they were not contacted asking if they were OK and offering them help! I am sorry I cannot suggest any private doctors, but your insurance company should have a list of those on their panel, I really hope this has helped you and good luck.
