Hi
Just remember, new builds can be expensive to heat in winter, and expensive to cool in the summer. Old properties offer best insulation against cold and heat, but inspect the roofs closely, old timber beam constructions will need reconstruction with concrete, beam and block, and new tiles.
Jim
Many thanks jim will do. Thanks for the response
Regards john.

Oria is a long way out, we have a place 10 mins drive from Huercal Overa, which offers large town facilities, but the villages around offer old style spanish facilities, with the coast 40 mins drive. We toured in a motorhome exploring many backwaters , over 2 springs before choosing a spot, Fuente Amarga.
Jim
Nice one jim....do you reckon we would be better in the Arboleas area.
Cheers john.

Hi John, a main factor of living in Oria is, it does get cold in winter, but like everywhere, you have to adjust & adapt, just like going out for a walk on a winters day, you’d put on your big coat, it’s the same with houses up here, plenty of good insulation and you’ve cracked it.
By contrast, the summers, although still hot, they are not as uncomfortable & humid as lower altitudes, and there is less pollution at altitude!
Whatever type of property you go for, a long hard look at either is recommended, and take note of what Jim has posted.
Oria does have a centre, with most of the facilities you’d need, including 24 medical centre, bars and a few small supermarkets, in fact the only things we don’t seem to have, is a dentist and a vet!
Although Oria is still predominantly Spanish, there are quite a few British living here. We have a good Mayor and town hall, where they are happy to help; there are also free Spanish classes, if needed.
Good hunting
Alan
Hi Alan thanks for the information really informative. Could you tell us where the nearest vets are and dentist as we have 2 cats. Is ther any fresh vegetable markets local. We will have to use the bus service untill we purchase a vehicle of our own .
Kind regards john n Tina

Hi John, you’ll find everything else you need in Albox, just half an hour away, there is a market every Sunday in Oria, but we find fresh produce is better in the larger supermarkets, in Albox.
In Oria, like many towns, large & small, there is NO bus service, many people hire a car until they get their own, and there is a local garage that hires out cheap cars.
Alan
Wow Alan thanks for all your information its very precice just what we needed right now thanks again.as a mater of intersest whats the weather up to day and temp wise if you dont mind.
Cheers john.
