Please keep a look out for the latest update from the Andalicia Junte as they will be requesting a runners, walkers, cyclists etc who will also need to wear masks.  It did not give a date but fines are to be brought in for anyone found not wearing a mask.

Please keep safe

Fines have been able to be imposed for months for not wearing a mask, this is not new. But on those walking outside in public places, not on runners or cyclists.

Junta de Andalucia today upgraded requirements for anyone doing non-federated physical sports to wear a mask if safe distance cannot be maintained.

Also now, at bars, cafes, restaurants etc, you may only remove the mask when you are actually eating or drinking. At all other times, it must be on - i.e. seated at table awaiting food.

Good morning Dario.

How on Earth are they going to do this. Is it all of Almeria region ?

Junta de Andalucia - must be all of Andalucia I’d say.  Certainly Almería though.  The regulation actually states you may only remove mask to ingest food or drink, at all other times, such as chewing or swallowing, it must be on.

Impractical and unfortunately reasonably unworkable.  It is I’d say a knee-jerk reaction to rising infection rates and whilst I agree with wearing of masks in general, this particular bit of silliness has not been thought through properly.

If restrictions are reasonable - and reasonably easy to comply with, you’ll get compliance.  But there will come a point where restrictions are like the above - more knee-jerk reaction than evidence based and thought through attempts to control spread - and people will inevitably stop complying - because compliance now passes the point of being maintainable and starts becoming ridiculous - and you can’t fine EVERYONE.

Thanks for the update Dario. It will be interesting to see if this is enforced. As long as cyclists and runners stay 2 metres apart there should not be an issue. Police on bikes have been out here in Roquetas and in Aguadulce, reminding walkers to wear facemasks properly i.e. not around the neck.

New measures against Covid-19.

✅ In today's BOJA, October 22, new mandatory measures have been published.

🍝☕ The use of a mask will be mandatory for all people in hotel and restaurant establishments where products are served to customers for their consumption in the same place, except at the time of ingestion.

🏃‍♂️🚴‍♀️ In the case of non-federated physical-sports practice, the use of a mask will be mandatory if the interpersonal safety distance cannot be guaranteed at all times.

You can check the complete arrangement here

 https://www.juntadeandalucia.es/eboja/2020/567/BOJA20-567-00002-12608-01_00179893.pdf

This means facemasks now have to be worn when cycling and running - if a two metres space cannot be maintained.

I agree with Dario it is OTT in bars and restaurants and also very difficult to police. I think many people won't bother going out for meals etc which will be very detrimental to business owners I am all for precautionary action but this is one I don't agree with.

YEAH, CAN YOU IMAGINE LIFTING THE MASK (NOT REMOVING IT) TO PUT FOOD OR DRINK IN YOUR MOUTH AND IMMEDIATELY COVERING AGAIN WHEN CHEWING THE FOOD? SILLY YES, AND THAT WILL STOP PEOPLE FROM WANTING TO GO OUT TO RESTAURANTS AND BARS WHICH IS VERY SAD...RESTAURANTS AND BARS WILL LOOSE CUSTOMERS... LET'S SEE HOW IT GOES.

I  have just come back from Albox. and was shocked to see the restaurants and bars along the road where the Mercadona car park entrance is, fully of people, with no masks on. In my opinion they should be fined heavily and so should the shop owners. Yes I can see it is inconvenient, to wear a mask whilst eating and drinking, but it will be a darn sight more inconvenient if they end up on a ventilator.

So irresponsible!!!!!
