VACCINE COVID19 SPAINCOVID19 VACCINE FOR ALL

This week we have noticed a few Costa Espana English newspapers suggesting that those outside the Spanish state public health system will not receive the vaccine. Even suggestions that the Andalucian Junta telling people to return to UK for vaccine. This is not true.

This is of course incorrect as central Government Spain has made it very clear that all residing in Spain will be asked to come forward and vaccinate.

As we know the EU has been slow to obtain & distribute vaccines across Europe.

For more information regarding the Spanish plan for the Covid19 Vaccine for those with Private Health insurance please click this

https://www.citizensadvice.org.es/faq/spanish-governments-strategy-on-covid-19-vaccinations/

Everyone resident in Spain will get the vaccine we would suggest that you all make sure the address on the Padron matches where you are living now and if not get it updated.

Some state medical centres are also listing people who register with them. So please call your local State Medical clinic and see if they are listing.

No panic if not as there seems to be plans afoot for some mass vaccination centres and possibly allocating Private Hospitals and Clinics to assist with the task of vaccinatio

Unfortunately there is no new information in this which clarifies the situation or reassures. The suggestion to make sure your Padron registration is correct is also misleading as town halls , other than Otgiva in Granada province to date, have said they are not involved. Central government may have said that ' everyone' will be vaccinated, but they are leaving it to regional health authorities to work out how to do this.  So far, only Valencia regiion has done so.

All this mis- information is very confusing for everyone. The UK might have been slow off the mark to start restrictions but now they are a front runner with the Jabs, I wonder if this is because they are now no longer in the EU, so therefore didn;t have to wait for Brussels (or who ever) to give the go ahead to order the vaccines. They were able to just get on and order them. Good side to leaving the EU I am thinking.

Jenni, The  information was compiled on 4th January for the above website. I understand the vaccination process in Spain is being incrementally delayed because the vaccine is simply not available not only to Spain but to all EU countries. The manufacturers of the Astrazeneca vaccine are clearly at fault failing dreadfully in making contracted targets for delivery. I understand only 10% of the vaccine contract has been made available to the EU.

I'm au fait with the situation in Ireland and I understand our vaccination centres are running out of the vaccines midweek so little is being delivered here. Some GP surgeries have failed to get any vaccine with queues of the elderly waiting for something that simply is not available. I'm assuming the situation in Spain is similar, but I am open to correction.

In Ireland it is hoped to have the situation back on track during April when the Johnson&Johnson vaccine will come on stream along with additional Pfizer vaccine. However, the government in Ireland is advising against any holidays abroad until late 2021 at least.

Is there any truthful information regarding when tourism will reopen in Spain to other European countries?

Morning Matthew, Yes that was my point, its being delayed to all EU countries,  not just Spain, but in the UK  there has been no delay, because they are now their own 'people', doing what is best for their own country, not having to wait for some bureaucratic anonymous  central government to order it for them. I was a fence sitter re Bretix, I am now thinking it was a good move for the UK.

Re your question re tourism, personal I think all travel should be stopped for 1 year, everyone stays in their own country, this testing malarky doesn't work, I have a friend in the UK had 2 covid tests, because he had symptoms, both negative, 24 hrs later he had another and it was positive. If he had got on a plane when he had the negative test and travelled abroad by the time he got there he would have been positive and therefore spread the virus.

I know its hard on businesses, and people who have relatives they cant live without seeing etc etc,  But we have to stop thinking of ourselves and think of the world as a whole, we will only beat this virus if we have a world wide ban on travel. If this isn;t done we can all look forward to years of masks, and lockdowns, and death.

Here endth the lesson.
