We flew back from Manchester to Alicante on Tuesday at 1720. Whilst we were waiting at the gate it was announced that everyone had to wear masks on the flight so people had to go back to the kiosks to purchase them. It is a ruling that passengers on all Ryanair flights have to wear masks but this...

... wasn't enforced when we flew to the UK on 10th June. Cabin service was normal, no checks were done at Alicante when we got back and everyone passed straight through.

Ryanair sent a message to passengers to say there was strike action by Spanish workers on 24-26, 30th June and 1st and 2nd July so this may have been why no cabin staff were available on your flight.

Thanks for the explanation I didn't get the message from Ryanair about the strike

We have been told that mask wearing protects the wearer from passing covid to others.  I am fully vaccinated and have also had the virus so prefer if possible not to wear a mask.  Just my choice.  Will wait for incoming!

yes of course your choice, but ,just because you have had covid does not mean you cannot get it again and please look at the picture I posted again,

I am not saying wear a mask at all times, what I am saying is if you are in an area of high infection think about wearing it in supermarkets and other places of high footfall,it is not about self self, but others others

Just because someone has been fully vaccinated and had Covid does not mean they cannot pass the infection on to others, even if they themselves are symptomless. I’m certainly rethinking my recent dropping of masks - quite a number of people I know, both in my village and outside, have just had Covid.  My son in Malaga has had all his jabs, as well as Covid (twice). The second infection was not so bad but long Covid has been disastrous.  There can’t be any certainty about all of the information we receive but given that, I prefer to go with majority medical advice and play as safe as I can, both for myself and others

We came over 3 weeks ago from newquay airport.  We were asked to show our covid vaccination on phone apps and were told masks were to be worn on the flight. At alicante airport there were people at desks,we were told to have our apps open as we would be randomly checked. On the return journey about 90% of passengers in alicante airport were not wearing masks and the flight to newquay about 1/3 of passengers were wearing masks. Quite bizarre, seems rules are relaxed as someone feels like and alot of people have flown caution to the wind...  the pandemic has ended I think in some people's minds! 🙄

Very strange as we have just come back to UK for a few 'family' weeks, (Alicante to Bournemouth)....and on the plane they asked for masks to be worn for the safety of other passengers....(remember we were in Spain at this point so they should have been mandatory when on public transport!).... However on a full plane there was only about 10 of us wearing masks! AND NONE OF THE CABIN STAFF WORE MASKS THROUGH THE WHOLE FLIGHT!

Same on our flight back to UK no masks for staff but on the flight out from uk they all wore them. Never know where you stand, obviously cases in the UK are a greater risk🙄

But the staff are on flights both ways! They are saying that the airlines are short of staff due to Covid, yet they don't wear masks....madness!
