Good morning

I know everyone will have different opinions.

What are the best areas to buy a property? Would love to hear your comments.

Thank you

Matthew

Linda, You have asked a question only you can answer. Most estate agents will supply you with answers they want to dish out. If you can, I recommend you visit in the off season and feel, live, experience the resort. Spend as much time in Mojacar as you can and after a while you'll know what is right for you.

I could recommend an area and you could buy there and then have the worst next door neighbour in Andalucia.

Your budget is important too. We don't know if you want to rent out your property when you are not using it. We don't know if you wish to live in it permanently. Your fitness level is important.

Apologies! I'm probably not supplying the answer you want.

Hi Linda

Matthew is so right. It depends on your interests. Do you like the beach life? Do you like hiking? Are you the street cafe type of people? Do you eat out regularly? Do you like to be with others regularly or do you enjoy a solitary existence with minimal contact with others?

The whole area is a very diverse region and there is something for everyone ( dare I say naturists too ).

Are you looking to live here permanently or is it a holiday home/investment?

If you are really interested in living here then come down, as Matthew says, but don't just come for a holiday. Travel the area and explore.

So many questions and so many answers needed well before you ever venture near an estate agent ( inmobiliario ) !

I'm sure you will find your dream place.

Good luck!

Matthew

Linda, I feel that I might have frightened you off and that I am a self styled expert on all things Mojacar Playa. But, I'm not. We spent about 3 years on deciding on where we wanted to live in Mojacar. Mojacar Playa is (for us) an excellent resort. We've built up many friends especially from the UK. While we are not fluent Spanish speakers we've enjoyed learning the language and it has opened doors that we never thought were possible. You don't need to know Spanish in Mojacar, but make the effort and it will be rewarded.

There are different sorts of clubs here and not just in talk. Regularly, I see yoga classes being conducted on the beach, hiking clubs* that are hiking clubs, cycling circles that actually cycle. There are cafés where you can sit and watch the world go by.

* I went on one hike (just to try it out). Suited and booted I went complete with Swiss type walking supports. After the hike I felt like I could join the SAS and that night I slept well. Following morning I needed a bucket of Tres en Uno (3 in1 oil)for my joints.

Bit of Advice (to make up for me frightening you):- Don't sell your home in the UK, if you are from the UK. Employ a gestor to act solely for you and don't share the solicitor of the vendor or estate agent. I hope you enjoy Mojácar and its environs.

I forgot to add:- Take notes, as in written notes of everything; you never know, you could be the next travel writer of Mojacar Playa.

Hi Mathew

You do make me chuckle!

Thank you for all your information greatly received.

Sun beach....champagne lol

We are thinking of coming to live permanently not sure if we want a villa or an apartment but won’t be selling our home in England for the time being.

We are both active but don’t think we will be doing the hiking experience.... like the beach but happy to be in the old town.We are very sociable so would be happy to join groups etc.

Apartments any tips on what are the best developments?

Linda

we live in Marina de la Torre between Mojacar and Garrucha and would recommend it for the best of both.  Shops close by cafes and restaurants good golf course, football ground when it can be played again.  bowls club, nice beaches blue flag, good live music venues when allowed again.  on bus route to Vera and the old town of Mojacar so no need to use car.  love it here.

Having lived here in Los Gallardos for the past six months, my husband and I came to the conclusion - FOR US- we will probably be looking to sell here and buy in Mojacar, closer to some more “life” and to be by the sea.

Having said that, Los Gallardos is lovely, sweet, safe and is less than 15 min from Mojacar Playa. And much cheaper! More property for your money. People who bought here are probably happy with their choice. Coming from a great Surrey town in U.K. and a lively life in Brazil, we miss a bit more of action. Maybe if we were younger with our 3 small children this would be heaven to bring them up.

Also Turre which is between here and Mojacar, is a good choice with more shops and supermarkets and only 5 to 7 min to the beach of Mojacar.

Vera is other and very popular and obviously cheaper than Mojacar. Because Mojacar Playa is very desirable - soo pretty - properties are more expensive. But if you are looking to sell in U.K. to buy here, nothing is expensive compared to U.K..

So, like others say, it all depends of what you want to do whilst here.

lots of small areas of flats and very expensive villas around the golf course and with 4 hotels in the same area.  of plan 2 bed 1 bath are selling in our block from €130k to €140 ready supposedly for the end of Nov.  they have fantastic views out to sea but you have to be fit if you want to walk out and down to the beach as it's all uphill on the way home!  but close to Garrucha and all the shops and on bus route to Mojacar free passes if OAP.
