Hi everyone.

We are considering changing our electricity provider and move away from Endesa. The original account was set up by our solicitor and it seems Endesa have taken the opportunity to charge the maximum they can in every area they can, including throwing on an insurance policy of €60 a year we didn't request and was not informed about.

The question is we are looking at "Evergreen" as a new potential supplier. I have spoken to them over the phone a couple of times and they are English staff based at Fuenguirola. They offer a full English speaking service with bills in English. Has anyone used them and if so what experience have you had, or can anyone else offer advice on a suitable English speaking company offering a clear, open, service?

We personally feel we have been treated badly by Endesa and would not refer them at all.

Regards

Mark and Carole.

We moved to Mojacar in April and the electric company our builder used to supply the block is fenenergia based in Vera so far we are very happy with our bills they send a factura online through a virtual office.  We had endesa at our villa but that changed to CNC.

Hello Mark & Carole

Our Solicitor also set us up with Endesa, we do find them expensive, just been charged 78 euro for period end of Sept to end of Nov and we were only there for one week and didn't use the air con at all.  We would like to change provider but worried its not straight forward to do. Be interesting to hear how you get on.

Good luck

Sandy

Thanks for your reply.

I have spent hours emailing Endesa who have a 5 week response time and I've also rang them twice. They have set us up with the most expensive kWh contract with no off peak savings. They have also put us on the highest potencia of 5.5 which they accept is too high for size of apt but offered no advice on what was. This is basically your "standing charge". Your useage like mine will be very cheap. They also put us on an insurance of about €8 per bill without permission!

Changing is easy it's just getting a decent referral. The problem is the standing charge does not reduce much.

Regards.

You can lower the contract potential quite easy yourself. Also it is no problem to change to a day-night tariff. And if you do not use aircon or heating, and don't rent your place, you can lower the potencial to 2.3 kW. It means that you just have to be aware of the use of all the electric devices and don't put everything infunction at a time. And put a timer on your electric waterheater, so it works at night and doesn't interfere in the use of other devices.
