Hi - we're John and Jan and will be spending the next 5 weeks in Mojacar.

We'd appreciate any advice / suggestions on the following activities please:

1. Sailing (dinghy and yacht) - we're still learning but know the basics and can crew.

2. Cycling - where to hire/ borrow bikes and routes for the occasional outing. We're fit enough for a full day out but we find mountain climbs less agreeable so prefer to avoid these.

3. Walking - we love hiking. Is there a way of contacting the Mojacar walking club other than using Facebook?

4. Tennis/Padel - we've seen a few Padel courts in Mojacar. Those near the footbal ground appear to be closed. Never played but would like to give it a try.

5. Improving our Spanish. We're making enquiries of free classes in Mojacar pueblo. Any other suggestions?

All the above are great ways for us to meet other residents and visitors during our stay here.

Look forward to hearing from anyone who can help.

Many thanks.

John and Jan

well you've had lots of replies then.  for the sailing there is a club that meet in Garrucha marina near the lorry tunnel entrance on a Sunday when the weather is good you might get a go if you ask.

as for the rest you can hire bikes in Garrucha on the playa the Mojaca road end  padel tennis courts are at the Parador for hire I believe.

Hi Alicia - many thanks for your reply. We'll check out cycle hire in Garrucha again (we did call into a cycle shop near the port  but they didn't do rentals) and the possibility of using the Padel courts at Parador.

We did find Padel and tennis at the sports centre in Vera (open all year) and also beach and table tennis at the Inaldo beach tennis club also in Vera. Both accessible by bus from Mojacar.

The dinghy sailing club in Garrucha was out last sunday - it looked well organised so I'll contact them direct to see if there is any opportunity to participate.

We've been doing our best to find walks in the locality but absence of maps is a challenge. The walk along the coast from the beach car park near the Indalo Best Hotel to the Torre del Pirulico and up to the Mirador was lovely and very easy to navigate. The walk from the football stadium to Mojacar Pueblo was OK but less inspiring. If you or anyone else reading this has other suggestions for walks they'd be most welcome.

Best.

John
