Hello all,

Myself and my wife were planning to move to Spain and apply for residency – but Covid threw a ‘spanner in the works’.

We are both retired with UK State Pentions.

We had planned to apply before the December 2020 deadline, but now I have a couple of questions I hope someone can answer.

If we can get Spanish residency using the S1 form for health care would my wife’s upcoming knee replacement on the NHS in the UK be forfeited?

2. If just myself applied for Spanish residency would my wife be entitled to Spanish healthcare as my spouse?

3. Anyone got a rental for a few months while we are looking for a property to buy?

Hi,

To your first question I think so I found this:

this is the link to the website:https://111.wales.nhs.uk/travelhealth/LivingAbroad

Planned treatment

If at any time in the future you want to come back to the UK for planned treatment, you must consult your new authorities to find out the options available to you. However, you will be charged in the UK, unless you can provide an S2 (or E112) issued by your country of residence under European reciprocal arrangements.

For your second question : yes, she will have beneficiary status if she fulfils the requirements. Here is the link to the website (you can change the language into english at the top right corner):  http://www.seg-social.es/wps/portal/wss/internet/InformacionUtil/44539/45195

hope this helps
