hi

I live in norwich at the moment and am looking to move to Almeria region later in the year , how easy and cheap is it to fly from this airport all year round to Stanstead or Norwich, I want to avoid a 3 hour drive from Malaga airport . Any info will be appreciated all thank you

We live north of Inverness so have to fly down to Manchester or London for our flights to Almeria. Usually it's to Gatwick where there are daily flights to Almeria either on Easyjet or Monarch. If you book far enough in advance the flights are not expensive but are usually a bit more than you would pay to Malaga or Alicante because there are more flights to those airports. We always prefer flying in to Almeria because it's really quick to get out of the airport and get the hire car  - we use Avis -  and then it's only 35 minutes to our property in Los Gallardos or another 10 minutes on to Mojacar.

Flying out of Almeria back to the UK on Monarch or Easyjet is always pretty good: bag drop and security don't take much time and getting on the flight is usually quite quick.

During the summer months there is also Ryanair a couple of times a week from Stansted to Almeria but nothing during the winter so you'd need to go via Gatwick or Manchester then. And Jet2 also fly a couple of times a week from Manchester during the summer and you could fly from Norwich to Manchester on FlyBe to pick up the flight to Almeria on either Monarch or Jet2.

An alternative is to fly to/from Murcia, again via Manchester or Gatwick, which is about 1.5 hours from Mojacar on the AP7.

I've travelled a couple of times on BA from Heathrow to Almeria via Madrid and you could fly back to the UK by the same route. On the outward leg it's convenient from a work perspective because I can get to Heathrow early afternoon and can be at the house by 11.15pm local. But the connecting flight from Madrid on Iberia/Air Nostrum is not the cheapest.

Certainly during the summer there's no reason to fly to or from Malaga unless the flight schedule really doesn't work for you. During the winter it's still do-able easily both ways with Monarch or Easyjet, albeit the choice of flights is much more limited.

You'll need to spend time looking at the airline websites to compare routes, times and prices and whether it works better for you to fly via  Manchester or Gatwick during the winter months and which route to take (Ryanair to/from Stansted?) in the summer. We can't answer that for you but I hope this basic info is slightly useful.

During winter months you can fly to Murcia with Ryanair,  from Stansted. We're in Urcal which is equidistant more or less from Almeria and Murcia airports at around an hour or so.

Flight costs can vary. Partner bagged some Stansted to Murcia in February, (just before Ryanair started flights to this region) for £19.99 !, set up a fare alert with Easyjet and Ryanair and see if you can bag a bargain.

A little bit of research will soon pay off.

Car hire can costs can vary as well, but best to book in advance and be aware you can book whatever car you like but won't necessarily get that car.

Eg we've booked variously a Fiat 500L and got a Peugeot 308, a Vauxhall Mokka and got another Fiat, this time a 5 gear Fiat 500X and latterly booked an Automatic Ford estate and we're initially given a Toyota Aygo hybrid but managed to persevere and got an upgraded Golf auto hybrid.
