Is this for pick up and drop off in Mojacar, or an airport (and if so which one?)

David Baxter at Al Andalus Car Hire is very good and reasonable. The website is at http://alandaluscarhire.com/. They only accept cash so they won't block anything off your card. The cars are a bit older than with Avis, Centuaro etc but we used them a couple of months ago and were very happy. He will deliver/pick up personally at Almeria airport and they have an agent at Murcia, Seguro Parking.

Costa Coches also get regular good write-ups but I've not used them. They can do collection and drop off at at Almeria, Alicante and Murcia airports and also in Mojacar. http://www.costacochesrentacar.biz/

Other than that we normally use Avis from Almeria Airport. They don't charge up-front for fuel but you need to return it full and they normally ask for the receipt for the last top-up. They don't block money off the card (a practice I've hated since being caught out 20 years ago in the US) but that might be because I am in their Avis Preferred program, I'm not sure. They are friendly and are just off the airport so do a shuttle run.

From Murcia San Javier airport we use Centauro but only their Premium Plan so it's not the cheapest. But with that you get an extra driver at no cost so my wife Victoria can drive as well, full insurance (even though we have our own excess insurance) and they don't block anything off the card. You just pay for a tank of fuel up front and return it full at the end of the rental. With their 2 other plans you do get money blocked off the card and are pressured to take their insurance. But we've always found them very easy, friendly and quick. They are just off the airport so do a shuttle run which takes about 2 minutes. They are not at Almeria Airport. https://www.centauro.net/en/

I've heard poor reviews of Goldcar but you see a lot of their hire cars driving around so many people clearly use them. A company that everyone seems to hate is Dickmanns. And there are others like Europcar at both airports,.

For best value try David Baxter/Al Andalus and Costa Coches and see what they can offer.

Hi

Gratefully have no need to.use Hire cars.but see such adverse comments posted on this and Facebook Forums. My.own stepson was stitched up by Goldcar which I believe is part of Europcar.

Might I suggest that whomsoever you use at time of collection use your phone to photograph each and every panel.including the windscreen and.the fuel guage on the flat.

One poster on here reported a 600€ charge on his card due to a windscreen chip and years ago after an accident Europcar issued me with a car only part filled with fuel.

Best Wishes,

Dr. Bob and Sandra

Dave at Andalus car hire was great with us.

Whoever you go with I highly recommend that you get your own excess insurance . It’s easy to get off the internet - mine cost me £35 for the year and saves me hundreds of pounds. Read the small print though.

Hi... We have used www.zestcarrental.com which is a broker many times and haven't had any issues.  I did a quick search for two weeks in September and seems to be a lot cheaper than other companies mentioned.

I'd recommend that you have a look.

I hope this is helpful.

Dave at Al Andalus Car Hire as in earlier post- is excellent not the cheapest but competitive  , we have also used Lara Cars out of Murcia Airport  also very good, we like Dave as he only lives in Vera so always nearby if any problems.

Hi

Try Do you Spain I have used these a number of times and have had some great deals the last was in may 12 days for 42 Euro`s, plus the add on when you pick your car up at the airport for fuel, do not take out their excess insurance cover with the car hire company arrange this before you are due to go, there are a few web site`s holiday extra`s etc but if you enter car insurance excess cover in your web browser you  should have plenty to look over, I had annual cover for £36 with Rock insurance and it covered my excess for £10.000, which gives you peace of mind for far less that what the request for cover at the pick up desk of your car hire company, some advice given in previous reply`s are good but I found that the rentals cheaper .

Good luck and enjoy your stay
