Does anybody know the current financial requirements to renew a NLV in the Almeria region? I have been informed that certain municipalities (specifically Almeria), only required 400% IPREM (as with 1st year application), for renewals? Is this correct? Many thanks

It’s €28800 for the first applicant and €7200 for the second.

Hi, just processing our final 2 years now. €35500 for a couple (cannot remember the exact figure but it's close enough).

If we show €58000 then we don't have to get yet another marriage certificate.

Hope it helps

Hi, I think the other answers here are pretty much correct, our solicitor tells us to allow €36,000 per couple, per annum (+€7,500 for each additional family member, in the same household.)

Just for clarity, I think one reply here said €35,500 but that will need to be doubled for the next stage of the process.

YEAR 1 (Initial application at the Spanish Consulate in either London, Manchester or Edinburgh, their website will tell you which Consulate covers your postcode) currently €36,000 [to be safe].

YEAR 2-3 Double the annual requirement (whatever that is at the time of application) this is done through the Foreigners office in Almeria.

YEAR 4-5, As above.

The funds can be made up of Pensions, saving or investments. Pensions are straightforward, bank statements must show how you receive your income and must be at least 6 months and stamped at branch, unless your bank now prints a QR code on them. Investments can be tricky, please remember that whoever is processing them should not need a degree in finance to work out how you receive your income! If you have investments, then I suggest that whoever is managing them produces an easily understood document, clearly outlining what you receive each year.

Everything must be translated and no more than 3 months old when submitted (unless they are annual statements).

The Spanish Consulate website provides a list of documents required, please follow it to the letter and check constantly, they update the requirements without warning. I know because I recently paid my tax a week before renewal of my card and when I got there, they had changed the requirements...

Thank you all so much for your extremely knowledgeable answers. Would it be the same for one person plus their child as it would for a "couple"?

Hi, I do not see why not. However, it is always worth checking.

You are correct €36000, I just couldn't remember!

As for year 4 and 5, we have just recently submitted the paperwork for these years. €36000 is what is required for a married couple and doesn't need doubling just need to show that amount is sustainable for the next 2 years.

During this whole process from the start we have never had to show anymore than what is requested. We're based near Albox and paperwork goes through Foreign Office in Almeria.

To help…

Sufficient Economic Means: You need to demonstrate that you possess sufficient funds to live in Spain without working. This is calculated based on the IPREM (Indicador Público de Renta de Efectos Múltiples), which is an index used for grants and subsidies.

Iprem currently €7200 a year, first person is 4x Iprem, hence the €28800. Each additional person 1x Iprem, so €7200. This can increase though, every year. It was so much easier before Brexit.
