Hi,

I'm 53 single and female.

I've been watching programmes about moving to Spain for a couple of years, and have done quite a lot of research on different areas.

In a couple of years, I'm thinking of moving to the mojacar area, I'm going to long term rent first, and keep my rented apartment going in the UK, just in case!!

I have fibromyalgia, and walking difficulties, and find the winters in the UK are getting me down!! I'm isolated, and I don't really know anyone where I live

I want to move somewhere, that still has a few places open in the off season, but I'm used to quiet winter places as I've lived in Corfu for years a while back, and currently live in a seaside town, so know the feeling of the last tourists going, and the place feeling a bit deserted.

I want to meet new people and start a social life, but as I can't drive, I need a good bus service, and supermarkets, doctors etc very close by.

I don't want to live on a big complex that is deserted in winter, or on a golf course, I've been learning Spanish in readiness to move.

Is mojacar a good place for me??

If anyone answer s, thank you in advance

Love Jess xxxxxx

mojacar village has an english community around your age group, but most are a little too used to the local wine, not to dwell too much on that, the village will be hard due to the fact of your disability as it is all ups and down by way of hills etc, lovely place but hard to move around in if you are not totally fit, the beach dies in the winter, so that may be lonely but as always there are people to get to know, Turre is all flat and has a big english community, bit too big to my mind but depends what you want, all in all i would say get a short term rent on the beach for now and check it out for yourself, ok hope it helps

Hi. Partner and I just moved into a lovely villa in Urcal and have a pool and enjoy sun from early till late. There's a doctors very close, shop, bar, featured on Place in the Sun. Friendly village/community. Shame you can't drive but we don't go out every day.

From what we'very seen, Mojacar may be a great place but crowded in summer and empty during the autumn winter time. You're right to do research.

There's still bargains with and without pools to be had with lots of baits looking to go back to the UK for a variety of reasons from uncertainty over brevity to grandchildren.

Bus services can be sporadic to non existent but coaches abound. In Huercal Overa, our closest town, 10 minutes from here there's a world class hospital, loads of shops, cafes bars, even property in the town itself.

We looked at the Arboleas area but found it too remote.

Best of luck in your search, you'll find the Spanish very friendly not to mention baits being very helpful.

I think mojacar playa would be a good place for you. There are lots of clubs and groups you can join. There are buses. There are 2 supermarkets.  A shuttle bus runs to alicante airport all year and Almeria airport in summer. I agree with everyone . It's best to rent somewhere and see.there is a small monthly magazine which publishes what's on  and what groups there are

The Mojacar village would be too steep for you so I suggest trying somewhere along the beach. To begin with I wouldn't worry where - take it on for say a three month's rental and once settled in, decide what to do and where to live in the area. Suggest you move here at the end of the summer season - September or October, if possible and give yourself until say, Christmas to assess things - then you can move into a long term rental, friends of mine are living in luxury two bed, two bathrooms apartments, with big front room, terrace, etc usually with access to swimming pool and gym plus good views & UK telly and all for about four hundred pounds a month...and the busses run fairly regularly.

Also a good, cheap, airport shuttle bus service that meets every flight from the UK and maybe Ireland, that comes into Almeria airport - and the same shuttle meets all UK flights that land by midday at Alicante airport...
