Looking at somewhere close to Mojacar but not on the sea. Good amenities, markets and health centre. Looking for a 3/4 bedroomed villa and pool with at least one garage but have the time to look. Only know Jimena in Provincial de Cadiz where I lived years ago and know nothing of this area but wanted a change. Very grateful for any input. I have a heart condition and a pacemaker and need to also know nearest hospital for check up. Do residents get Spanish healthcare or is that S1 from England. Thank you. See you soon. Vanessa and Peter, although Vanessa does all the groundwork!!!!!!

s1 in spain if retired and nearest hospital is Hercal Overa but for lots of treatments you have to go to Almeria. Cardiology department is behind schedule for check ups because of Covid.  My husband is still waiting for his 2021 check.

Depending on how long you want to drive to get to the coast where the best villages are.  Not many villas with a garage as well. Depends how much you have to spend of course as well.  Best look on line at the various estate agents in this area to see what's on offer.  think about the driving licence change as well if you need to drive.

Thank you for this. We are not making any decisions just yet. We will make a visit shortly and look at the pros and cons.

Try looking on the Voss homes website.  They cover lots of villages a bit inland.

Personally I love Huercal Overa.  Proper Spanish town, with lots of amenities.  Large modern hospital.  Good mix of people.  Great sports facilities.  Twice weekly market.

Urcal is very popular with expats.

Always go with Spanish agencies in order that you will not be taken advantage of, unlike UK agencies.

Go for a Spanish Estate Agent. You can trust them.

This post that was quoted has been deleted.

I would say that my comment was self explanatory.

YRichard from Calida  homes in Arboleas is a good place to look. If you look on his website, he shows you round all the villages and gives you a good insight into what’s available. Personally I think someone who does so much for charity is definitely trustworthy and wouldn’t rip anyone off. There are a couple of estate agents in Arboleas and I would wholeheartedly trust them all.

Prince Andrew did quite a lot for charity. Not suggesting that your man is in the same league but often cover. Saville?  Raised loads for Great Ormond Street hospital.

In modern parlance, ‘just saying’ (grrrrr)
