Introduction

hi we live in Atalaya we had an spanish electrician fit us fans in the bedrooms for the summer nights as the air con is noisy and as we are top floor we had a cupboard built for the washing machine which enclosed the unit so you have to have the door open when it's running.  we bought the fans from Lopez at Antas but the electrician had to extend the pipes to hang them from the cement ceilings above the rooms and the automatic timers don't work for some reason.  The Spanish tv is already in situ if you want it.   We have LCD downlights throughout but if you want fancy lighting there is a good shop near the LIdl roundabout in Garrucha and another in Bouganvilla and one in Vera town.

An outside tap on the terrace is handy, very handy.

Not if your in the apartment below . Oh and a supply of oxygen to get up the hill . It’s a lovely complex , enjoy 

There are some nocturnal noises that are worse than water flowing from above externally. Wherever you are situated, it might be prudent to come to an agreement with your neighbours underneath and above regarding your and their contributions in the bathroom after a good day's visit to the nearby restaurants. If this is not clear, it's the timing of the flushing that may cause concern.

It might be a good idea to remove leaves from the grid covering the water exit too. And to avoid strange stares from your neighbours, it might be a good idea to clean your terrace after dark. 

God! How many times did I say "it might be . . ." and I want to keep the conversation clean.

We're also on Atalaya. We bought last year & from July this year it'll be our permanent home. As far as 'extras' goes, we have 150Mb fibre from Airnet (you can either sign up online or their local shop is on the roundabout just down from Lidl in Garrucha). We also have an IPTV system with all UK tv + Sky + Films + Catch-up etc from SE Android Systems..they're on Facebook & have a webpage , but also have a shop in the commercial centre on the Valle de Este golf resort. Both the internet & the TV systems we've never had any issues with. We also had the water filtration system installed to give a separate drinking water tap in the kitchen (we arranged through Sergio).

Also a heads up that if you need any more storage, the management company are selling off some of the unused storage rooms from Phase 1.

Thankyou all, for your tips and suggestions. This will be a Holiday home but will be visiting often as we itend to retire from work within two years.

We have sourced some lights from Luces in vera and have had a quote to fit doors to outdoor laundry but thought it was a bit expensive at over 1300.00 euro. So will probobly source the doors and frames and fit myself the internet provider and IPTV system will be a must and will be straight onto it during our next visit. The water filtration system is a good idea and will look into that further and will definatley be fiting a tap on the terrace.

Is it easy to arrange deliverys of items to appartment when you are not there to recieve the said items.

unless you have left a key with the office and Sergio will be there then it will be impossible to have anything delivered if you are not here.  When you are here there is a portal system on the main gate that works through a Spanish mobile phone to allow you to open the gate for entry to others.

With regard to electric we have found that if we have the air con, tv, an electric heater in the bathroom and then the kettle on the fuses flip as the supply is not strong enough.  You will also find that there are no isolation points for the cooker,hotplate or fridge/freezer they don't have them here it seems. in fact we have observed that some of the flats have bare wires for the oven poked into the wall with no plug/socket at all!

We have Next internet as we are on the top floor and are not sure if the fibre optic will come up to us from the road at the bottom.  we also have a tv system from DCM in Mojacar which provided all we wanted.  Next can be turned on and off for use if you are coming on holiday which saves on the cost.

for furniture you get a good choice from the places on Antas industrial estate and the shop on the dual carriageway to Vera from Garrucha they all deliver for free and construct and fix top walls anything that is needed.

Before you pay out for any sunblinds it will be wise to see where you feel you need them, we didn't and it cost us a lot of money to find that we don't actually use one of them at all.  A decent parasol would have served better in the hottest part of the summer.

Today has been a glorious sunny one but the sea is as rough as anything. 

just a warning to you about the locks on the balcony doors,  we accidently locked ourselves out as they shut and lock on the slide and we left our phone indoors which was great.  thank god someone was about to hear us shouting and the Key was in the office for them to get access to rescue us.  '

we have now imobolised one of the locks and use a length of wood to lock it when we go out.
