Hi folks

Myself and hubby are in our mid  50s and have been to Almeria many times, we will be coming out again in Mid june  looking for a property to purchase.

We love Mojacar, Vera, zurgena, huercal overa, Turre, to name a few , we would like to be no more than 30/40 minutes from the coast, we will be cash buyers, we have already lined up a few properties to view with a few estate agents , we definitely would like a pool and at least 3 bedrooms .

We are already seeking any information to help us in our purchase and moving and living in Spain , lots of research and fact finding for me .

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

I

Hi,

Could you possibly list the queries & areas to/in which you need advice.

Also an idea of your budget might be helpful.

Saludos,

Hi,

Well it's a start.

1. If buying from.a Brit then consider a CHAPS transfer which will be UK Bank to UK Bank so.no currency conversion apart from the 10% for the deposit and the 8% Purchase Tax & Professional fees. We purchased our 2nd property in this manner. The Seller has to agree & woukd be a fool not to. The Notary was fine with it.

These will need to be in Euros & you have all manner of Currency Exchange Companies. Transferwise, GCEN ( Global Currency Exchange Network ),  Currencies Direct, etc.

Solicitor-after 16 years there is no doubt in our mind. Ana & Salvador if Grupo  Salvador, Paseo del Mediterraneo, Mojacar Playa. Perfect English, iltra competent & brilliant communication.

If further inland, say Huercal Overa, then Amanda Oakley of ALO Legal Services, Zurgena. Glowing testimonials. I can also advise one or two to avoid.

Healthcare.

Who knows after Brexit!!!! Especially with Boris. Pensioners are able to access Reciprocal Healthcare at present or if receiving certain UK allowances.

Otherwise Private Healthcare.

Sign onto Spanish Soc Security system-think that's Autonimo.

Work out here & pay into system.

Hopefully DarioMartin or Rascalmate will reply as they are really spot on in this area being workers unlike retired gentlefolk like Sandra & myself.

After Brexit, & if no Residencia,  then you will be allowed 90days in.the Schengen Zone. Then you must leave for a minimum of 90days. Already talk of swingeing fines for overstaying.

Think I'll leave it at that for the moment.

Can't help with pool as we don't have one at cottage and at the apt a Communal Pool which is maintained by some Company.

We have Solar at cottage & apt is all electric.

The further inland the colder it is in Winter.

Lots of opinions & methodologies.

Bye for now,

Bob and Sandra

The best advice we were given is to decide somewhere where you want to live and rent for the 1st year only that way will you know if you want to stay there permanently.

When we came out on house hunting trips 9 out of 10 ex pats gave us this advice and Im so glad we took it.

Good luck in your search.
