We can certainly recommend Huercal-Overa and the surrounding La Alfoquia & Zurgena.

Here is more information on our site. http://www.vosshomesspain.com/

Let us know if you need any more information.

Kind Regards

Hi last year we bought a house in Alfoquia. Lovely view of the mountains, great local cafes, british bar and a fish & chip shop!

Yes, La Alfoquia sounds ideal for you. Andy Voss

Hi Glen,

We have been in Alfoquia for  two years now, renting. It is perfect! Yes, lots of Brits around but Spanish neighbours and shops/bars etc. still make it a Spanish village.

Good luck!

How about our lovely Urcal ??

Two bars, one that doubles as a coffee place most mornings, even full english tho not on the menu, lovely community, ex pats, darts on thursdays, cold booze ok lager, we love the peace and solitude.

If you’re wanting not far from the sea, and British bars, then that would be Mojácar.  Very very lively in Summer and HUUUUUUUGE amounts of bars abound, as do English speakers ......

Mojácar Playa as name suggests is seafront.  The Pueblo is up in the hills a bit but still not far from the sea

I agree with Dario, if you want British/Irish bars then Mojacar Playa is probably your best bet.
