I'll be interested in finding out how your first experience goes in March Andy.  It may be a serious option for us to consider.

Hi Lisa!  Everytimewe go back to Scotland in the winter we have to fly from Alicante.  We leave our car at Eco Parking which only costs us 50 euros for 2 weeks!  They are found online for the details and they speak English too.  Sometimes we have to fly from Málaga and have found cheap parking there too.

Hi Lisa,

We have hired a car through Coys rental company ,twice from Alicante and paid for the insurance through them. They may be a bit more expensive than the likes of Goldcar but fabulous service and no nasty surprises afterwards.

We had the same problem with Firefly at Almeria airport when they charged us 40 Euros 'service charge' when we returned the car even though it was undamaged and full of fuel. It's obviously a scam. We're flying into Malaga next Month. Can anyone recommend a hire company or a way to avoid being scammed in this way?

T(+34) 952 10 50 50 Transauto -  We used them for years, never had the tiniest problem - they meet you in the arrivals lounge on the way out to complete the papers ( or that is what they used to do, this is about three years since we last flew to Malaga.) and the car is in the car park opposite or parked just outside, none of the queuing in the dire car hire place downstairs.

You didn’t by any chance book through Doyouspain did you? They are a broker with very questionable terms and conditions and I would advise anyone to steer well clear. They are cheap but the slightest problem and you can get bitten! If you use the reputable firms you shouldn’t have a problem - I recently used Dollar which I believe are owned by Hertz and they were great. Andy
