There is no shortage of dogs to adopt - Cantoria would be on your 40 minutes from the sea limit, Almonzora Albox, Arboleas, Huercal-Overa would all be within that scope. Personally I think Cantoria is a really well kept town and there are scenic views, if you want British bars then Arboleas but h...

Thanks again for replying we have looked at Albox and really like what we have seen.

Does anyone have any additional advice regarding this area .

Once again sorry for the silly questions 🤣

Hello everyone, new to the site but hope to stay for a bit😂 we are due to fly over in late June for a 12 day break and hope to pop in to some estate agents whilst over here as we have decided to retire here as everything we have read ticks all our boxes , we are still relatively young under 60...

Please be in no doubt more silly questions to follow 😂😂😂

Dont worry about silly questions, you may get some silly answers,

Albox/Arboleas for some time has had a problem with a lot of illegal builds so tread carefully

Another vote for VIP.

Mojacar Estates are also good.

Both will provide lists of local trusted Solicitors if you find a property you like.

we went into them on 2 separate occasions looking for property..... we have been in our villa for 3 years and have never heard a beep out of them!

Hi. I am looking to buy in the Mojacar area. Lots of agents seem to post pictures of the same property or even various properties merged into the same advert. They obviously all claim to be the best. Any recommendations on the real ones and not the charlatans? Ideally, an agent that can assist wi...

...th advice and guidance around bank registration, solicitors, follow up with customer support with services registration etc. All advice welcome. Thank you. Tony.

We used Simon Cole at Coles in Turre 3 years ago.....  he was excellent and helped with things like electricians and carpenters. We are in Heurta Nueva near Los Gallardos, just 10 miles from Mojacar but walking distance to bars in the village. We love it so much that we are moving to another larger  villa over the road and are selling this one... so if you are interested in a 3 bed villa in an area lovely to walk in then PM me. We use Maria Moroto in Vera as a brilliant solicitor.. Good luck....

We had a list of properties to view and viewed via about 4 agents, all were good. We were visiting for a long weekend and wanted to make the most of our time, Spanish Property Choice arranged to show us a few properties on a Sunday, they opened up their office especially for us and drove us aroun...

...d. We eventually purchased an apartment through them. We were very impressed with their service and after service as we were kept informed along the way. They also state that they do not have any illegal properties on their books which was a massive comfort to us when buying.  We used Angela Morales Soler as our solicitor who was wonderful. We still use them for our tax returns and local tax payments.

"They also state that they do not have any illegal properties on their books which was a massive comfort to us when buying."

So this real estate agent doesn't have any illegal property on its books! How do you know this? - Did they just tell you? Did they inform you of this in writing?

If they don't have any illegal property on their books, are you wasting money employing a solicitor?

Clarification required.

Thanks for your comments Matt. Of course I didn't know this for definite. At some stage you will always take a risk, nothing is 100%.I was well aware of not checking, that would be for my solicitor to undertake later in the purchase process but having this statement beforehand was as I say it was still a massive comfort to me, whatever you think cannot change that. If there was any untoward issues I could use this information in any future legal cases. It could ruin SPC's business if that were to happen. They are very high profile.

Hi,

We live in La Judea, Arboleas. It's walking distance to the village where there are several bars/cafes and a few shops. There are pretty views and beautiful orchards of citrus trees and olives, and 40 minutes from the coast. However, this is a very British area. If you want a more Spanish area I would recommend Cantoria or perhaps Almanzora village. There is still a fairly substantial population of British immigrants but a much larger proportion of Spanish. A little further out there are places like Oria and Chirive, also Albanchez and Purchena, which are beautiful, but beware the winter temperatures when you start to get higher in the mountains.

Hi Michael,

I think Albox is a good area to live as the town has pretty much everything you need in terms of shops and facilities. Also emergency medical facilities which you don't always find on your doorstep in rural Spain. It isn't a pretty town though if that matters to you, although the surrounding scenery is stunning.

Most villas are a drive into town, although there are some within walking distance. Having said that, when it's pushing 40 degrees in the summer even 100 metres can be a challenge!

I'm in the process of buying a Villa in Los Carrascos. Estate agent is Almeria Homes, who have been excellent. Its got stunning views and some nice looking trails I'm looking forward to walking. Nearest Bar/Restaurant is less than a 10 minute walk, Arboleas village 5 mins in car and Albox 10 minute drive. Which, as has been mentioned, has everything you'd need for everyday living. Easy drive down to the coast in about 30 - 35 minutes.

What I did find is that the same property is listed with multiple agents. I have been visiting for years so had a fair idea of where I wanted to be, I viewed a number of properties in various locations in the area, with different agents. A just felt comfortable dealing with Jo and her team at Almeria homes.

Good Luck
