Hello I am new to this site and feel very thankful that I have found you. I hope I am writing in the right forum. I am hoping, in two or three years to move to Mojacar permanently but am concerned ref the cost of private health insurance which I believe is necessary? I am worried that it will be prohibitive. I realise that different circumstances mean different charges but I’m just looking for  a very very approximate ball park figure for costs for a woman aged 70 in good health but with mild arthritis. I am anxious not to invest too many hopes and dreams into my plans if it is not going to possible for me, so I am trying to find some possible guidelines ref prices etc. I would be so grateful if anyone could help me please, or point me in the direction of good health insurance companies. Many thanks in advance, Kind regards, Jan

Hi Janis! Welcome to the forum! You would only need to pay for private health insurance until you become resident then you can get an s1 form form the uk and get onto the public health system. I  would say the prices range between 50-140 euro per month depending on the copayments ( high, low , medium or none). SANITAS ADESLAS ASISA DKV are some of the  ones that I have heard of.  and also ASSA which I have seen advertised for people getting residency.

This is from the spanish governments page:

6. UK nationals who are pensioners under the British Social Security system and residents in Spain

In the case of UK pensioners resident in Spain, will their access to healthcare in their place of residence following Brexit be affected?

Their entitlement to healthcare will not be affected, which will continue on a similar basis to under EU Regulations, pursuant to the provisions of the Trade and Cooperation Agreement between the EU and the UK.

Hope this helps.

Thank you so much for your help, I appreciate it more than I can say- I am a little out of my depth with regard to technology, rules and regulations etc but I am determined that I will have the chance to have an adventure in my sunset years. The prices you have mentioned are within my grasp so I feel very reassured, I didn’t even know that once I have residency I can access the public health care system.  I am so grateful to you, thank you so much once again! With kindest regards, Jan xx
