I am not 67, I am under 60 years of age.

That aside, anyone is free to choose to have both if they want.

The major benefit of private health insurance is that you can have your medical issues seen to a lot faster than through the state medical system exactly like it is in the UK.

It's nice if you are in a position to go private but I think most people are not that fortunate, it is now putting a lot off people retiring in Spain now because of the exra income they have to proove,

The thing to remember with private health insurance is that you pay for your prescriptions and also any prosthetics you might need.

Some companies require authorisation from head office for blood tests and some don't.

Like any insurance, if you use it your premiums go up no matter what they promise at the start!

Ask what they consider is 'normal usage'.

This is what I've learnt from 16 years of private insurance and 2 different companies.

I would also just like to add, from recent personal experience, if you need to be taken to hospital in an emergency, the nearest listed hospital may be a few hours drive away.  It’s always the same with insurance isn’t it, fine until you actually desperately need it

The only reason I ask is if you are pension age you can get S1 which you can gett on the health system for free and you don't require to seak private health care, I was not prying into your private life

I was just trying to be helpfull

Hello John, very good advice, thanks

I guess this still applies after Brexit? I also understand the "S1" scheme insurance can be used to apply for a non-lucrative residency visa - is that correct?

I would very much like advice from anyone who has moved to Spain from the UK since BREXIT on the non-lucrative visa scheme.  Thanks everyone
