Hi everyone we are travelling from Santander to Mojacar soon and we usually stay in the MiraSierra on the E5 but the ferry is docking really early so we thought we would drive past Madrid before we stopped.

Can anyone recommend a hotel convenient to the motorway before, around or after Albacete.

We have one dog and it obviously needs to be secure as our car will be loaded.

I found a couple on booking.com if anyone knows them we would appreciate your thoughts please.  Hotel Bodega La Venta at Casas de los Pinos and Hotel Real Castillo at La Guardia.

Thank you looking forward to coming back to Mojacar for our 90 days

Sandra and Colin

In January, we travelled from an early docking in Santander and stayed in the Paradores  Albacete on the way to Mojacar.

Very pleased and would use it again, clean, safe, good breakfast included, and just off Motorway.

Thank you. Unfortunately Parador doesn’t take dogs.

We also have often used the Parador at Albacete for an overnight stop, from both Santander, and St. Jean de Luz when we have sailed to and from St Malo. It is convenient for dropping off the Autovia and not far into the town if you want a decent evening meal. The dinners are not the best of the Paradors but the extensive buffet breakfast is excellent.  Parking within the grounds is not ‘secure’ but I thinkt it is monitored by cctv.  Check that if it is important, we have never heard of any break ins. We have occasionally tried other hotels on the northern side of the town when the Parador has been full but suggest staying clear of most of them unless you prefer a modern commercial or conference type of establishment.  The change in ferry timings is going to require adjustment to long standing habits and looks to make Mirasierria difficult to stop at for both inward and outward journeys. If you can time it to Bocequillas, the Hotel Las Casitas has superb accommodation, each little house with its own attached private garage, if that might suit with a dog.

Thank you.  The timings are not great with Brittany especially now that a lot the crossings are two nights.   I have made a note of the other hotel you suggested that looks good.  I hope the Mira Sierra is not going to lose out on trade because if the different timings we have been staying there for 10 plus years.

Best to phone individual laraxlore re dog friendly. We checked and there dog friendly, is the dog is allowed to stay in the car in the garage, not allowed in hotel
